Inappropriate? Why not? Firefox has support for more parts of the web than Internet Explorer, and is more secure. As well, the people who create websites have an easier time creating them for Firefox, as newer tech has to be "faked" for Internet Explorer, because Microsoft creates just enough to "get by". There's claims that they'll fix this in Internet Explorer 8, but they also claimed that for Internet Explorer 7.
For one really good reason, get adblock plus (an add on for Firefox). I think it comes with some filters now, and you should really like the results. -
Inappropriate?I'm a Safari user because I'm on a Mac, but if I were on a PC, I wouldn't even bother with Internet Explorer. I would definitely user Firefox. Beside ad blocking, there are numerous helpful plug-ins which will make your life a lot easier.

There's Safari for Windows, now. -
Right. I keep forgetting that! -
Inappropriate?I used Safari for a while before I learned about all the great Google plug-ins, especially Notebook (great for research), as well as the independent applications that were unique to Firefox. Good stuff, can't wait for 3.
I’m too excited about technology.
