lengthy Herd downtime, favorite commands gone, can't form keystroke habits
The Herd has been down for several days, and some of the custom commands i've adopted -- bit.ly, ping.fm, etc. -- are no longer accessible. that's probably my own fault for allowing auto-updated source. it seems that there is no client cache / sync process which buffers against this
i am a strong and vocal advocate of the Ubiquity project because, at least for me, a keystroke-driven developer, it's a great productivity enhancement. yes, dependence upon a central server for hosting custom commands is a reasonable expectation. however, adoption of this technology requires repetetive use, and downtime leading to command loss is a deterrent to this
sure, the Herd will come back whenever it can. however, should i take this as a hint that my own custom commands should *not* be hosted in the Herd, and rather put them 'in the wild'?

Inappropriate?Having the herd down for several days at a stretch really limits the usefulness of Ubiquity. I know it's a beta (or alpha?) project, but it would be nice to at least have a brief explanation/update posted on the herd page (and here).
Ubiquity's a great product that people have begun to incorporate into their routines (that's a big FTW for you guys) and therefore it's more aggravating when we don't know what's going on.
Thanks.

Inappropriate? As Robclock stated, the herd being down limits Ubiquity's usefulness, severely. Even so, I wouldn't be nearly as annoyed about it if there was just a simple explanation about it, and an ETA would be even better, but I'll take what I can get here. Other than that, I'm loving Ubiquity, and can't wait to see where it goes from here.
