OK-button in the download dialog of Firefox is 2.0.14 grayed out
Search words: greyed / disabled
The more people who report this problem, the more it gets noticed.
The company believes this isn't a problem.
The best solution from the company

This is on purpose to fix a security issue where a window could pretend to be the download box or something similar.

Inappropriate?I noticed the same thing in previous versions of Fx as well. In this case I usually click somewhere on the download dialog window and the OK button gets enabled. Try it.

Inappropriate?Thank you for your hint! This helps sometimes, but not always and it always takes some reaction time. The behavior still annoys me.
-
Inappropriate?Same here. I noticed that if another control has the focus the button will be disabled until you click either the button or any part of the dialog. Anyway, doubleclicking doesn't work because it takes a little while to enable the button.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? In addendum, if it never un-grays out for certain filetypes, that's bug 361909 and is fixed in Firefox 3.

Inappropriate? Thanks you very much for your very interesting answer! I'll just wait for the Firefox 3 release!
I’m waiting for Firefox 3.
-
Inappropriate?Firefox 3.0 RC 1 (Release Candidate) is already available at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/...
-
Inappropriate? Thanks for the hint, but because I use a lot of Firefox-addons, I will wait a while at least until the official release, because most addons don't work with Firefox 3 yet. At least the last time I tried, about a month ago.
-
Inappropriate?I don't care if it's a security issue. I want a way to disable it. It's annoying enough that I'm thinking about switching to Opera.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I rarely experience this problem. And when i do, all i have to do is click it again. 2 seconds of delay for security is 2 seconds I'd sacrifice every time.
I’m glad
-
Inappropriate?Seriously... you can keep it as a security "feature"... But let the more intelligent users turn this off... we've got things to do, and don't have time to wait for this nonsense.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I second what fff said; Let me choose if I'm intelligent enough to remove or not this "security" feature by myself.
We're bashing Microsoft about their way to "choose for us", I won't continu to use a soft doing the same, open/free software or not!
Come on!
I’m very frustrated!
-
Inappropriate?Let me know if this solves the issue:
1. Open about:config in the address bar
2. Accept the security warning (if there is one)
3. Type dialog_enable in the search box
4. Double click security.dialog_enable_delay
5. Set the integer to 0.
This disables all security dialog delays. This should disable the ok button delay, let me know if it does. Also, you assume all liability for removing the security delay if you do this. -
I just downloaded FF 3.0 Gecko 2008061521 for OS/2. This fix does not fix the problem. -
Turns out I was wrong, that delay is for extensions: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Disable_ext... - I'll keep looking. -
Inappropriate?why dont you just download the new firefox 3 as i read no updates will be available for the old one soon as it will be fazed out ,
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate?I also agree with fff. We're 20+ people at this company using Firefox, this being the only big thing annoying us all. Didn't know it was a security feature, but still, greatly annoying.
-
Inappropriate? Also I tried your dialog_enable fix, and it didn't do any difference. The delay is often more than 10 seconds, sometimes 20-30. Sometimes it never seems to ungrey at all.
-
Inappropriate?Turns out I was wrong, the security.dialog_enable_delay preference is a carryover from seamonkey (the Mozilla Suite) and was only recently fixed (relatively) for Firefox. I'm working to see if the value can apply also to download dialog OK button delays.

Inappropriate?Found this fix in another forum:
"I found this solution that worked for me:Kruno 2007-12-17 12:04:10 PDT
OK, I spent the whole afternoon and I FOUND THE FIX :))) I found 2 fixes to be
more acurate
the problem is with the FOCUS of the tabs... because Open dialog loses it's
focus when new browser tab is opened then regains the focus when that tab is
closed but the original tab does not regain the full focus...
here's the solution...
In the address bar type about:config
In the filter bar type TAB
Find this key: browser.tabs.loadDivertedInBackground (default value is FALSE)
Change the value to TRUE (just doubleclick it to change the value)
And VOILA!!!
OK button is not greyed out anymore...
