Opening a different profile opens the same profile
Having one profile opened (through a shortcut: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -P "user1"), when I try to open a different profile (also with a shortcut: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -P "user2"), another window with the same profile is opened. This didn't happen in earlier versions of Firefox. In those versions, if I clicked the second shortcut, the second profile would open in the new window and the two profiles could be used at the same time:
for instance, I have my bookmarks and tabs in my window and when my mother gets here, she can open her profile in a new window through the second shortcut and this wouldn't affect my session of Firefox - and both of us could have our two Gmail accounts opened, each one in each of the two windows/profiles.

There is no way to do so without using the no-remote option listed here: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Command_lin...
This has never worked in Firefox nor the suite without such switches, and in the first several years this didn't even work on the Suite on non-Linux platforms.
That link will give you the list of command line switches you want.

Inappropriate?something about moz_no_remote i would think, but it seems someone's made an app for that: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtop...

What do you mean? -
someone's made an app to do what you want, and moz_no_remote allows you to run multiple versions of firefox (and I believe multiple profiles too) concurrently -
Inappropriate?I know, I don't just believe that not long ago (in a recent previous version of FF) I could run multiple profiles of Firefox concurrently. The problem I'm reporting is that this is no longer happening now.
I’m frustrated

It's never happened. You must have set up the Firefox shortcut to set MOZ_NO_REMOTE=1. -
