Problem: URL Inop with Firefox 3 (Only)
The following URL works fine with Mac Firefox 2 and Mac Safari 3, not so with Mac Firefox 3.0.1:
http://radio.mpbonline.org/MPB_Live_Mac
This page should display streaming quicktime.

Inappropriate?video/x-ms-asf
Microsoft ASF is not quicktime. You might be seeing it work in Safari with Flip4mac.
Content:
[Reference]
Ref1=http://radio.mpbonline.org/MPB_Live_Mac?MSWMExt=.asf
Ref2=http://10.10.30.29:80/MPB_Live_Mac?MSWMExt=.asf
I don't know why you're using microsoft video format for "Live Mac", but that's not quicktime. I manually put the Ref1 URL in quicktime's "Open URL" and it's not loading anything. I put the Ref2 in and it didn't work either. So I put the Ref2 URL into VLC's "Open Network", and got the following:
main: Connection to 10.10.30.29 port 80 failed: Operation timed out
access_http: cannot connect to 10.10.30.29:80
main: Connection to 10.10.30.29 port 80 failed: Operation timed out
access_mms: cannot connect to 10.10.30.29:80
main: no suitable access module for `http://10.10.30.29:80/MPB_Live_Mac?MS...'
I actually got it to eventually work in VLC with the Ref1 URL. It's running off this URL now:
mms://radio.mpbonline.org/MPB_Live_Mac?MSWMExt=.asf
That one (too) works in Quicktime, so Quicktime seems to have issues figuring out what the MMS server is from the asf file.
Most likely this is due to issues with the way the server is sending the client (Firefox) the file. I don't know why it works in Firefox 2 for you, but it doesn't "work" in Firefox 3 for me. I had to use view-source:http://radio.mpbonline.org/MPB_Live_Mac to see that code I referenced originally.
I’m happy to help

Thanks for your detailed response. You're right, this involves Flip4Mac, aka WM Components 2.2.0.49R, which I have just reinstalled. Leaving Safari out of the equation, the question is why is Flip4Mac working with Mac Firefox 2 and not Mac Firefox 3? I hope this will be resolved, I guess by the Mactopia folks in Redmond. -
Inappropriate?It seems they know about the issue, and it's an issue on their end.
