Inappropriate?Yup, weave implementation would be awesome.
My vision for weave in fact is more like storing your complete profile online, not just single things. ALL my settings would be retained and always with me.
That would be good!
-
Inappropriate?Agreed. Basically just continue the exact same browsing session from another computer. Dont confuse browsing session with website session. THAT could be a security risk!
I’m better
-
Inappropriate?I'm not talking sessions explicitly. I'm thinking more in the lines of your sheer profile. Chrome layout, addons, settings, bookmarks, everything.
-
no, i understand what you are talking about. I'm saying that a user session (how many tabs open and to where, passwords, plugins, plugins active, plugin prefs, browser prefs...etc. everything that goes into a persons "browsing session". -
Security reasons aside. It would be awesome, if it would work.
Just a thought process. The securing of your data would have to be good, sure. -
Perhaps password protection for session information prior to loading things that could be security risks, i.e. session variables, tabs, etc. -
just like weave already functions, yes :-) -
Inappropriate? So how do you know this is an "idea" that has yet to be implemented if you haven't used Weave yet? I'm pretty sure weave syncs your extensions and their settings.
One other person suggested this and I mentioned weave to them, don't know if they've tried it yet though: http://twitter.com/adamprocter/status...
I’m sad

this is one of the best points

Erm, it does not? It is a planned feature for sure, but not accessible now. (For user quota restrictions I can't even re-activate my account to test the bookmark syncing...). -
I was a little scared it would break foxmarks as safari and firefox cross syncing is very nice :D -
Inappropriate?I agree with you completely and the fault is mine for not trying out weave before commenting, however, weave is under development (highly) and the last update i saw was from months ago which makes me think development, or releases have slowed down a bit...making me a bit apprehensive with trying it out... however, being a foxmarks user, I LOVE the idea that weave can do this. I've used both foxmarks and fubu and weave seems to incorporate the functionality of both.
Unfortunately, foxmarks now holds an advantage over weave, which is the ability to sync to other browsers (IE, Safari)
Do you know if Weave will break foxmarks or vise-versa?
I’m undecided
-
Inappropriate?Cant install weave (as I posted in the wrong thread :P) as it is invitation only. fail
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?I missed this one before: ubiquity command and weave server
so maybe it doesn't happen already.
Also, you can host Weave on any webdav server, details and download here
I’m sad
