Shortcut/hotkey without any modifier
Is there a way to use a Function key without any modifier as my Ubiquity hotkey? Why the restriction to have a modifier (Alt,Ctrl,etc)?

Inappropriate?Because the Function key is a hardware modifier, while the Ctrl Alt and Shift keys all are software. The function key isn't detectable by the software (in most cases).2 Comments

But isn't the "F1" key used by most software, including Firefox, as the de-facto Help key? Couldn't Ubiquity use it instead? -

Inappropriate?Yes, I meant the F keys at the top of the keyboard. I really want to invoke Ubiquity without using any modifier keys and the F1...12 keys would appear to be the only keys that would have the least conflict with any existing functionality.

I'm not part of the Ubiquity team, but I'll try to take softballs to lower their workload. However, I don't know why you can't use those, you'll have to wait for someone who knows Ubiquity to respond (and I don't know how long that will take)

My understanding is that we are using some functionality of the Mozilla platform that requires a modifier key. It does seem that the function keys should have the same capability, but at this time we only support hotkeys with modifiers. -
Inappropriate?If you are familiar with Keyconfig addon (http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtop...), you can simply assign { gUbiquity.toggleWindow() } to any key you want.

I've never used Keyconfig before and it doesn't seem to work for me... could it be it stopped working with the newer version of Firefox?
