Translate command is very constrained by the amount of text it can select
Translate command is very constrained by the amount of text it can select: I selected about two paragraphs of French to translate to English. Ubiquity gave me an error message about text length being exceeded. I broke it down to one paragraph and the command worked. One paragraph is pretty limiting: I can use a bookmarklet to translate the whole page.

Inappropriate? We're using Google Translate API for translation and Google limits the amount text per request. We've been thinking about translating large amounts of text piece by piece (sent in separate requests) but maybe, there's a better solution.
Which bookmarklet were you talking about? Might be useful to check it out.

Inappropriate? Thanks for the bookmarklet. It should be possible to translate the entire page in the same way. But currently, the translation does not refresh the page and instead, inserts the translation in the same page. So, that bookmarklet is not particularly useful if we want to translate without refreshes. We need to come up with a better solution (a better translation service with no text limit, perhaps?).

Inappropriate?@Abi: I absolutely love the instant-translation no-refresh approach. It's a Godsend, though, as rowanrook said, the limit is really restricting. Sending multiple requests would be a good solution, even temporarily; see if you can get into talks with Google about working together on this and/or more commands. For example, an exclusive Ubiquity translation page/feature, better GMail integration, etc..
I’m excited to see what comes of this.

Inappropriate?Yep. We could probably do that. That said, for now, it would be great if someone wrote a patch for the command to enable doing it in chunks.

There is also the problem of the translate command not respecting paragraph breaks, or formatting.
