ActiveX went out when Firefox 2 was released. It causes security holes and is not safe to use. For more see http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/A...
For alternatives see http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/A...

Inappropriate?Thank you josh for the response but the alternatives are not working for me, the solution is for very particular application such as windows media streaming etc but not for what I use it.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?hmm, IE Tab should work, becuase it opens the web page with Internet Explorer, just with Firefox user controls. Make sure you have activex for Internet Explorer.
What sites specifically are not working? -
Inappropriate?Please try:
http://www.scn-chat.com
http://www.sparkpea.net
http://www.buzzen.com/chat/index.php
None of them works, I tried using IE Tab, but the firefox still crashes.
I’m confused

Inappropriate?darn! ok it appears, that the site wants you to install a plugin, and there is no way getting around that. I suggest that you either use Internet Explorer for the chat, or get into the wonderful world of IRC. (internet Relay Chat). Just go to http://mibbit.com/ and in the upper right corner search for whatever you want to talk about.
sorry about that. :(
P.S. you should contact the site owner and complain.
I’m sad the site doesn't allow Firefox 3.
