A label system like Gmail -with new features
Gmail is my favority e-mail , and I like to see all features on the thunderbird.
1.Change the name TAG to LABEL
2..See labels with colors like gmail (with color font customize like labs from gmail). Like a folder (see the screenshot )
3.Labels to manage inside pop and imap account (or another new technology to improve). For I that i want to get my labels where I go (to promote API for that )
4.To each account use diferent labels (gmail don't have yet I think)
and
To "columns" (exemple: subject,from, date..."label")
5. Use labels with colors like gmail (see on the screenshot)
6. Set to default installation this order to columns:
[messages treads][star][from or sent][read] ["LABEL"] [subject][attachments][junk][time]

Inappropriate?Yeah, i like a lot about this. If someone wants to work on for example, adding tag-based views to the folder pane, that should now be relatively simple using just a bit of javascript. I'd be happy to help someone work through the issues in an extension as a first step.

Inappropriate? The old "folder" metaphor for categorising and sorting items is a limiting hang-over from the physical world where an item can only have one location.
Taxonomy "Labels" or "keywords" or "tags" make so much more sense. So it would be awesome to have the option within Thunderbird (or as an add-on) to do away with folders completely and use a label system in its place. Just like Gmail (there's no denying it - Google are clever).
I’m confident
