mozMapi32dll causing update error
my Thunderbird couldn't update from 2.0.0.17 on, reporting an error with opening file "mozMapi32dll" to read. I removed it then from its' location and tried again with d-loading 2.0.0.22, it was successful. Is it necessary to put that file back to the place where I took it from, although the new version seems to work OK? I haven't time and knowledge to read the hundreds of articles with hundreds of links in each, it's actually chinese for me, I'm really sorry

Inappropriate?I don't understand, if you search for mozmapi32 here you'd get at most 20 results, and they all say the same thing: close your logitech quickcam software and try again. That's not Greek, Chinese nor Sanskrit, it's pretty simple English.

Inappropriate?to Thomas
It seems, I didn't put my question right, it's not about languages nor logitech, but simply: will the v.2.0.0.22 work properly if I left that .dll to lie on my desktop (i.e. has the new version downloaded a new .dll to itself?)
By the way: if such a simple thing as using a logitech webcamera (which costs - and is a brand, as Yours), can block the work of an e-mail client, guess who will be the first to be abandoned. If You say, there where at least 20 references to the same problem, then perhaps it's time to do something. I spent two hours this morning in the portal and when I met the first suggestion (about that 'logitech'), I simply quit, I took it as unbeliavle, and went on by my own. I have to do some work of my own today, You see (finding out differences in the ways of lighting out various types of limestones used to the baptismal fonts of the middle-ages in Scandinavia-Baltics, and introducing these types to the scanner... it takes a time..-)
Best wishes,

Inappropriate? You took my statement about logitech locking the mozMapi32.dll file as unbelievable?
It is like when you have a file open yet try to delete it, Windows will complain that the file is in use. When the Thunderbird installer tries to replace the mozMapi32.dll, the QuickCam software has a hold on it and won't allow it to be moved.
The statement that if it's a known problem, something must be done, is absolutely correct. Logitech needs to fix their software. However, until a large number of their customers complain, nothing will be done.
Most likely it is the software holding on to the file in case the user wants to take a video with the Logitech Quickcam software and e-mail it. It's improperly done, but since no one is complaining, they don't see a need to fix it.
Since you say your question is this: You took the DLL file and moved it to the desktop, and ran the installer again, and it worked, so will Thunderbird work?, I'll say yes, the installer worked so Thunderbird will work.
