Inappropriate?I'm on an iMac dual Intel, so this may not be germane to other computers. So far I've found that if I go to VIEW -> TOOLBARS -> CUSTOMIZE and then find FILE and drag it to the TOOLBAR. While my files and folders are there in the drop-down menu, so far I can't figure out a way to get them to be visible in a column on the left as they were before my hard drive committed suicide. I was able to copy Thunderbird from my laptop, but I lost a lot of important client emails in the doing. It had been about 3 weeks since I backed up Thunderbird to my laptop. And now I'm paying the price for my laziness and procrastination!!!

Inappropriate?OK, how do I follow it on Dashboard, i.e. what widgets do I have to download?
I’m all of the above

Inappropriate?OK, I got my file folders back! (YEA!!!)I went to TOOLS -> ACCOUNT SETTINGS and set up a new account with the same server entries...and Voila, there were my folders down the left. I'm keeping the folders in the drop-down menu in the TOOLBAR just to be on the safe side.
However I am very disappointed in Thunderbird's lack of help in this matter. This is obviously a very serious concern when so much correspondence back and forth to clients is involved, and Thunderbird personnel shows a blind eye to this problem, and several others I can see in the forum.
Pity, it's a good product but it's sink or swim for those who use Thunderbird. -
Inappropriate?I have Outlook for my email and when I signed in to my Hotmail/ Windows Live account I had to download an upgrade and I guess i set it for Mail and it took most of my mail from OE inbox. Since I shut the computer down while this was happening I have lost all mail since June so only part of the inbox was transferred.
Is there any way I can get this back? It must be hiding in my computer somewhere.
I tried a system restore but that didn't help so I unrestored it.
Any suggestions?
Thanks -
Inappropriate?Hi C Mewis:
Are you using Thunderbird or Outlook? I'm going to guess Thunderbird since this is Thunderbird support.
It's very unclear what the problem is. Is it that you have lost your Hotmail email that you downloaded to Thunderbird?
If that's the case the following might help:
1. Again guessing you are running Windows XP and Thunderbird 2.0.0.23 (let us know if you are not!)
2.Do a backup first:
using MozBackup if on Windows:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/MozBackup
or if not using the other methods discussed here:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_backup
3. Compact your folders as it might solve your problem
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Compacting_...
4. Finally try this diagnostic:

Finally if the above doesn't help:
