Music Not Supported!?!?
Before I purchase Muvee Reveal I wanted to try the trial version to make sure its worth my money. However no matter what kind of music file i use it tells me that its not supported. Music I purchased from Amazon or iTunes won't work. Nor will music I ripped directly from my own CDs. The strange thing is that my friend did not have any problems adding music to hers...in fact I even emailed her a song that did NOT work on mine to see if she was able to use it and she was. So what's the issue???

Hi Gurlonthesun ,
Please follow the steps below.
a) Please download the file "MPEGLayer3.zip" from the link below and extract it to a temporary location.
ftp://muveeUserMedia:UM12oPLkadtunb9@ftp.muvee.com/MPEGLayer3.zip
b) Upon extracting, please copy the following files to the "C:\Windows\System32" directory. If you are prompted to overwrite any files, please do so.
a. L3codeca.acm
b. l3codecp.acm
c. l3codecx.acm
d. l3codecx.ax
c. After copying the files, execute the file "mp3reg.bat" which will register these files on your machine.
d. Lastly, launch muvee Reveal to verify whether you can import MP3 files from your machine.

Inappropriate? Is anyone ever going to answer me? This is more frustrating then the software itself...the fact that I can't get an answer!
I’m ANGRY!

Inappropriate?Hi Gurlonthesun,
Music with DRM protection (or "copy protection") will not work with muvee Reveal. That includes music that you purchase via online music stores such as iTunes. Music that you transfer from CDs into mp3 format using, say iTunes, should work though. Can you tell us which software you're using to transfer your CDs? -
Inappropriate?I'm using WIndows Media Player to rip the music from my CDs. The thing that is really frustrating is that these same files that will NOT work for me, when emailed to my friend work just fine for her. I have restarted my computer, uninstalled and reinstalled the program, moved the files to different places on my computer (I have several HD, so I've moved the music around thinking that Muvee might not have liked one of the HDs), and even tried emailing the music to myself and downloading it to my desktop and trying to use it after that (since that worked for my friend without a problem) but NOTHING is working. I can't use ANY music at all. *sigh*
I’m sad

Inappropriate? Are you able to use the sample 1 minute music file that comes with Reveal? Here's how to locate it -
1. Go to your home directory (typically something like c:\users\myname\)
2. Open the "Music" folder.
3. Open the link named "Samples (muvee Reveal)"
You'll find a file called "music.wma" there. See if you can use this file as the music track. -
Inappropriate?Ok...Yes I can add the music.wma file, AND I took one of the songs I wanted to use and converted it to a .wma file and that worked. So evidently I need to convert all the music I want to use from mp3 to wma??
-
Inappropriate?Reveal supports mp3 files for sure and you shouldn't need to convert to wma. Are you having trouble using *any* mp3 file, or just the ones that you converted using WMP?
-
Inappropriate? No I can't use ANY mp3 file at all. None. Doesn't matter how I do it, where I get them...if they are mp3 they do not work at all.
-
Inappropriate?Hmmmm ... my guess is you could have a broken codec installation, but a weird one - since I presume you can play these mp3 files in WMP itself.
It'll be good to check with our support staff. Can I ask you to file a support ticket at http://www.muvee.com/en/support/ ? Meanwhile, you do have a work around of converting to wma before dropping your file into Reveal. -
Inappropriate?Yup I can play my mp3s in WMP, burn them to disk, and when I transfer them to my iTunes they work just fine as well. I can use them everywhere except Muvee.
I did file a support ticket and their reply is below. I sent them the same information contained in my first post. Evidently all the person who answered my ticket saw was that I couldn't use iTunes, not that I couldn't use ANYTHING. If you're interested my support ticket number is: #YZR-61892-284
This is the reply:
We are sorry for all the inconvenience you had experience with trial version Muvee Reveal.
muvee software only works with music that is not DRM-protected, so you can't use iTunes music to make a muvee.
Try creating a muvee using our sample video and pictures located in your C:\Program Files\muvee Technologies\muvee Reveal\Samples
Here are the supported formats for muvee Reveal :
Supported input formats
Video : WMV, Quicktime, MPEG4, H.264, MPEG2, MPEG1, DV-AVI, 3GPP, AVCHD, HDV
Pictures: JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIFF
Music : MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV
Supported output formats
Video : WMV, WMV-HD, QUICKTIME, MPEG4, H.264, MPEG2, MPEG1, AVI, 3GPP
Thank you.
It is always a pleasure to serve you. -
Inappropriate? We do see a lot of people trying use music purchased from iTunes so I'd say that response is not entirely out of line :) Let me see if any one else has any insights on your problem. On the surface, it looks to me like Reveal is being given some mp3 decoder other than the default one.
Just for completeness, please do post your system information - most importantly your Operating System and the version of Windows Media Player you have.
I do hope this glitch doesn't stop you from experiencing Reveal. -
Inappropriate?I have Microsoft Windows XP
Media Center Edition
Version 2002
WMP Version 11
Thanks for your help!! -
