If I bought an expired domain name, can I transfer it to another registrar within a week?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Inappropriate? As far as I know.. i think you will have to wait 60 days before transferring out to another registrar..
Check this ICANN link: http://www.icann.org/en/transfers/pol...
I’m unsure

Inappropriate? Thanks, nabaraz, but I already know about the 60-day ICANN rules.
You see, I'm not talking about initial registration here. I'm talking about ordering an expired domain from name.com. That expired domain is already inside name.com, so basically I should be able to transfer out anytime I want.
And now I'd like to confirm that with Kellie.
Kellie?

Inappropriate?ice,
I'm sorry - I'm not getting notifications like I should. Something is amiss on that end.
To answer your question - you should have no problem doing so, but why you would want to, well that's just beyond me. ;)

Because people sometimes buy names in order to resell them.
ICANN say you can't transfer new domains for the first 60 days of registration. But perhaps that is registrar, rather than owner specific?
So if somebody buys a domain from name.com's expiry pool, does that really mean it can be sold/transferred to somebody else almost immediately? -
Dear DBM,
The 60 day transfer prohibition on new registrations is registrar specific. If somebody buys a domain in the expiry pool, you can transfer the domain to a third party immediately.
There is only one issue you need to be aware of. You will want to wait till 45 days after the domains expiration month and day to transfer the domain name to a different registrar. For example, if you purchased a domain from the Expiring Domains list that shows an expiration date of 2010-11-10 in the whois, you will want to wait till 45 days after 11-10 to transfer the domain to a different registrar. If you transfer the domain name to a different registrar during this 45 day period, you will not receive an additional year of registration with your domain transfer.
Just let me know if you have further questions. You are welcome to reach me at scott@name.com
Thanks,

Inappropriate? What!? You're not getting notifications from getsatisfaction.com, Kelly?
Me too!
Well, well, well... I think it's about time they launch their own "Get Satisfaction" customer community webpage. :)
Thanks for the answer, Kelly.
P.S. I should've send you a Sealife Reefmaster instead of flowers. You should try underwater sometimes :)
I’m excited
