Email Alerts for Error Thresholds!
This is the one feature that would definitely have me upgrading from Bronze (plus, it's an easy one). So, if I understand correctly, RPM keeps up with errors and will give an alert on the Dashboard and RSS if a certain threshold is met.
Case in point - yesterday a fluke error happened on our server where every single request was causing an error!! If RPM could have sent an email to a special "emergency" email account that I have set up then I would have caught this much sooner. Text message alerts would be cool too, but people can always use those services that turn emails into text messages for that.

Inappropriate?Hi Stephen,
This is definitely supported and your understanding is correct. When your threshold for errors per minute is exceeded, RPM will show this in the dashboard as well as send you an optional RSS message.
At the Silver and Gold levels you can have incidents created for any threshold violation (as well as other heuristics) which can be optionally emailed to you. For Silver, incident creation and notification is done once an hour, on the hour, and for Gold its done every 5 minutes.
To have the emails sent to an emergency account, you simply need to create an "Emergency User" with the appropriate email address and set the flag in the profile to have the incidents sent.
Thanks,
Steve -
Sorry if I'm being dense here but I'm a Silver level user and I don't know where I can control these options. I looked in the online docs and all over the new relic site. I see the RSS option but no where for getting emailed or SMS messages (for incidents or errors). I have your most recent release from last week. Also it would be useful in the RSS feed to include the Date/Time of the incident in the name without having to open the content.
Example :
Venice [2008-11-30 14:36:08]: Response Time went from 279 ms to 2409 ms. (closed)

Hi SportSpyder,
The Gold subscription level checks for incidents and emails them every 5 minutes. However, Silver checks every hour and only works with RSS. I'll look into putting the date/time into the RSS message.
Thanks!

Inappropriate?Cool, thanks for the reply! I'm looking forward to trying out Gold during the free week (not sure if that's for everyone or just EY customers...). You guys are building an awesome product!
I’m elated

Inappropriate? Thanks, any chance you are adding a RSS feed for Errors for silver subscribers as well?
-
Hi SportSpyder - with Silver you can define a threshold for errors on the dashboard that when crossed, will trigger an incident which will show up through RSS. The content of the errors won't be in the feed message, but at least you'll know to look at RPM. Is this good enough or did you have something else in mind?
