Leveraging New Relic plugin/framework
Can the NewRelic plugin be leveraged to do custom things? For finer-grained problem solving, especially...
Like when Nagios senses something wrong, it would be great to be able to route or log some of this information, just in that window of time... Say when we know that cpu load has climbed above a threshold -- start specific monitoring until cpu load drops again. Then we can start to really pinpoint things that are afflicting our system.
This would be something we could code up ourselves, to plugin to your plugin. Would just love any thoughts, ideas, suggestions... Yours looks like a great framework for things like this...

Inappropriate?Hi Christopher,
Our goal is to have a platform for custom monitoring, and in theory it's possible to build some of that today. However, there are some missing elements that still need to be built. If you've looked at our instrumentation scripts at all, you can see how easy it is to add new instrumentation. However, there currently isn't a way to visualize custom metrics on the RPM service. This is definitely on our roadmap but probably isn't something you'll see from us until late in the year.
Regards,
Jim
