RPM not reporting any data - connection refused over 443
RPM not reporting any data (and I can't get at historical data, either).
An error I've seen recently in the new_relic logs is:
[10/07/08 07:43:35 (18754)] ERROR : Error communicating with RPM Service at collector.newrelic.com:443: Connection refused - connect(2)
Further, I didn't know this had happened. Is there a way to monitor the monitor? A preference setting that would email me if no data came from a cluster in certain time frame. I wouldn't use or depend on this to check that my site is actually up, but that RPM is getting data.

Inappropriate?Hi Sean,
Would you please check what version of the RPM agent you are using?
Check the agent version number by looking at the version.txt file under newrelic_rpm plugin directory or the version.rb file under newrelic_rpm/lib/newrelic/ directory.
Thanks,

Inappropriate?Hi Mei,
We're using 2.5.1. I see that there's a newer version (2.5.3). I'm not in a state where I can upgrade and deploy our app for another week or so, though, and I need to get at the data. Was there a service upgrade recently? Saxon mentioned something in a question I asked yesterday.
Thanks,
Sean

Inappropriate?Hi Sean,
I have an agent V2_5_1 on my Mac connecting to our production site through ssl at port 443 now, it is reporting data fine.
If you can provide more info about your environment and config, that would be helpful.
Thanks,
Mei -
Inappropriate?Well, nothing has changed since yesterday. We deployed a new version of our app yesterday at about 3:00. For the 3 hours after that, I watched for spikes and errors in the RPM data, so it was working fine then.
All of the instances report this error at the same time this morning:
[10/07/08 03:29:14 (30155)] ERROR : Error communicating with RPM Service at collector.newrelic.com:443: Connection refused - connect(2)
That's about 7:30AM Eastern. Since then, no data has come up in RPM.
There's another error that seems to come up at about the same time:
[10/07/08 03:29:10 (13265)] ERROR : Error communicating with RPM Service at collector.newrelic.com:443: 405: Not Allowed
Any thoughts?
Thanks,

Inappropriate?Hi Sean,
We are currently having other agents report to our production site through ssl. Could it be some network issue on your side? Can you try accessing this site from the same host that your app is on?

Inappropriate?Hi Mei,
No issues there. I can connect fine.
In fact, if I restart the mongrels, I get no more errors when trying to connect:
[10/07/08 20:55:20 (2594)] INFO : New Relic RPM Agent Initialized: pid = 2594
[10/07/08 20:55:20 (2594)] INFO : Agent Log is found in /var/www/onecause/releases/20081006192936/log/newrelic_agent.8000.log
[10/07/08 20:55:20 (2594)] INFO : Runtime environment: Mongrel

[10/07/08 20:55:30 (2594)] INFO : Reporting performance data every 60 seconds
But I still don't see any data in RPM.
Is it possible there's something wrong with our account?
Thanks,
Sean -
Inappropriate?Ugh, nevermind. I've got it. I apparently still have 2 accounts under this email address. Is there a way to delete one of them? It's not used.
For some reason, when I logged in today, I was put into the wrong account. That hasn't happened in weeks.
Anyway, the issue is moot. Thanks for your help!
Sean
I’m happy

Inappropriate? No problem. You can email the unused account name to support@newrelic.com, so that our RPM admin can disable this account for you.
