Running more Mongrels than in plan
What happens if I have a Basic plan (which supports 4-10 Mongrels) and I have three applications with a Mongrel cluster of six for each for a total of eighteen Mongrels? Will RPM just ignore the last eight Mongrels or what happens?

Inappropriate?Hi Joe,
Our licensing model works on a first-come first served basis, so for basic, the first 10 mongrels to connect will successfully send data to RPM, while the 11th and subsequent ones will run normally, but will not report data to RPM. Regards,

Inappropriate? And what happens if an app server is replaced ? Such as on EC2. I will replace our application servers with new ones shortly, and was wondering about this myself. The host name will change, but the old mongrels won't report anymore. How will that be handled?

Inappropriate?Francois, you are asking all the good questions ;)
We track concurrent connections - that is, if we have heard from an instance within the last few minutes, we assume it's connected; after that period of time has passed, we assume it has "gone away" and free up the license for use on another host.
In the UI, we show hosts that have sent RPM data in the last 6 hours; after 6 hours have passed, those old hosts are removed from the RPM home page so that it doesn't clutter up with hosts that no longer are running with RPM.
