Unfortunately, it's not supported, and it's not really something we're considering supporting. There are a few posts that go into the details, but essentially, the problem is that many non-technical users don't expect it, and as a result it can be confusing.
Also, when cutting and pasting error reports and the like, which is fairly common, Textile and Markdown have a funny way of messing things up.

Inappropriate? Thanks for the quick reply. I can understand the need to keep things simple, but is there at least a way to get around an XML snippet having its tags stripped?

We recently pushed an update so that you can now upload any types of files. So, you can upload an XML text file and it will be left alone. Unfortunately, it won't be displayed inline, but it will give you a way to share the XML. -
Inappropriate?OK.. we'll just paste links to pasties or gists for now.
That might be a cool feature to offer somehow.. some kind of pastie/gist hook. -
Yeah, that's your best bet. I'd like for us to offer something like that inline or at least within Sifter so that it could be secure, but it's just lower on the list. (Behind milestone management, an API, and half a dozen other features.) -
Inappropriate?Understood. Thanks again for being so responsive!
