Links in emails the wrong way round
In email notifications, pretty much without fail, I click the

I'd imagine most users don't change their email notifications that often, whilst most users click to view the ticket online very often.
I think the targeting is wrong here. I'd find it far easier if the "turn this off" was at the very bottom of the email with several lines above it pushing it a little bit down.

Inappropriate? This is one of those things where everyone is different. It used to be that way, but people complained. Some people open the email and click the first link that they see. Others read all of the way to the bottom and click that link. As a result we've already made several rounds of modifications to the emails to get to where we're at now.
Regarding the ability to disable notifications, it's listed prominently not to make it convenient, but rather to generate awareness that the notifications can be disabled.
While we certainly appreciate the feedback and will keep it mind. However, I don't anticipate making any significant layout changes like these until we add the ability to reply to emails or add HTML versions of the emails. The latter is what I see as the long-term solution to this problem as it would allow us to design a proper email and emphasize the correct links.

Sure I can see that it's quite personal. Although I am more used to "unsubscribe" being the last rather than the first link on the page for most system emails.
I also understand the need for awareness.
HTML version emails would go a long step to allowing more detailed design and allowing better positioning of links. Beanstalks HTML mails I find are some of the best, if you want a good example to look at. -
Thank's for understanding. It's definitely something that I want to get right. I'll give Beanstalk's emails another look. I do remember them being quite nice when I tested it out. Thanks for the recommendation.
