Using the iPhone platform to its fullest potential?
First off, I was playing Rolando 2 today when I noticed that although there are the light and heavy Rolandos, there is no Rolando with variable weight. So, I was wondering if it was possible for there to be a sponge Rolando that, when exposed to water, becomes heavy and gradually becomes lighter when jumping on land (causing water to be expelled). In addition to this, there could be over touch activated machines such as a water hose (to make the sponge Rolandos heavier, like the peppers cause the orange Rolando to float) or other machines.
While on this topic, I would also like to say that I was a bit disappointed in the lack of new touch machines in Rolando 2. Now granted, with the first Rolando, this was all new but I think there are now less of these machines in R2 than there were in R1. When thinking about the iPhone as a platform, many forget that because this is a phone, there is a clock on it. I was wondering if in a future update or in R3, the night/day real time changes could affect the game, not just in the background (eg. sunsets, moonrises) but also in the way that the enemies behave, from the obvious like different movement, but then also like different enemies. Now, with the iPhone, there is also a GPS, as you know. Would it also be possible to obtain real time weather conditions and then use those in the game, if the player chooses? Of course, for some levels, the weather sets the tone, but I think it would be a nice option to have!
Many people, including myself, would consider the Rolando series the Mario series of the iPhone because it is such a revolutionary game. In many ways within the game, it is also like Mario. Simply, if you touch one of the natives twice, you die. However, in Mario, you can get two mushrooms (boy the nostalgia is getting overwhelming here!) and then you can shoot the Goombas and Troopas. Now, in Rolando, you can jump on the switch to fire arrows, but have you ever considered giving the Rolandos a certain type of weapon?
Now, from the announcement of Rolando 2, many have pleaded for a level editor so that they may create there own playable levels and publish them for the world. I believe that with certain level of moderating, the community can produce brilliant content that the creator of the game may not have thought of. And with the introduction of the Plus+ network, I think this would be the perfect opportunity to implement a level editor and publisher in-game in Rolando 2?
With the Plus+ network, I am shocked that there is no messaging system so far in Plus+! Will this ever be added?
Lastly, will you ever place mini-games within the Rolando games. I don't mean puzzles, but as in mini-games such as, and this is purely an example, but to have a yellow "sacred" platform and then use that to play a type of Bomb-Brickbreaker using a bomb dispenser that was implemented in Rolando 1? I know this is a premium series, but have you ever considered that?
