Allowing people to leave comments without registering
Over at www.mobileinjapan.com, we are using our site as a public news and information site as well as a community site.
It was recently brought to our attention (*) that it would be useful for non-registered people to be able to comment on blog posts. I was first against the idea as I thought about the spam, but then I realized that we do want to get comments from people who for whatever reason may only visit the site once or occasionally. Most blogs, even the major ones, just require a name and email address and optionally a URL. If necessary a captcha could be added to this list.
From our perspective it would increase the content, value and traffic of the network if people could comment on blog and forum posts without having to register.

Inappropriate?I have a similar question. The purpose of my site is for film scoring. I would like for non-members to be able to browse the entire site without having to set up a membership with us.

Hi Jim!
Non-members can browse the social network if it is public. You can control the privacy settings at Manage>Network Privacy.
Thanks,

Inappropriate?Hi all,
If you take a look at the sign up process, all members and Network Creators must agree to the Ning Terms of Service. This keeps Network Creators like you safe! The sign up flow has email address, password, DOB and a captcha and we are not planning on taking any of these steps out.
Thanks,
Courtenay
