Don't you think its time Ning offered you the ability to send out a website newsletter?
The option to send out a newsletter where Ning can have the newsletter format resemble the format of your site, Ning can monitor the list of members interested in the newsletter, and you would have the ability to add material or feature material from your network in the newsletter. Ning can also make an autimatic newsletter that you can choose how often it sends it out and what material it includes, for example the most recent five discussions, five newest groups, etc..
Let me know your feedback because this would be the number one thing I would improve on Ning.

Inappropriate?I personally use MyNewsletterbuilder.com They are not to expensive and you can enter your csv file to add your emails list... then future members can subscribe to the newsletter ...
My members love it and it is simple to create... I hope this may help you ...

We were actually discussing this, just this morning! We don't have formal plans for it, but we're looking into it. I've flagged your feedback for review when we look at making this happen.
And, as Robert pointed out, until we implement this, keep it mind you can always do this directly by exporting the list of your members' email addresses.

Inappropriate?Totally agree that this is a must have feature. I get regular updates from LinkedIN and I now look forward to them to keep me informed of updates in the various groups I've joined. It definitely encourages me to keep going back. I've also heard the same from many other people who find this feature on LinkedIn so appealing.
Newsletter functionality in NING is a must have. -
Inappropriate?I'm waiting for Ning to improve the broadcast feature because having a separate list with a separate opt-out option would be confusing to my members.
I like the idea of having the newsletter based on the same design template and be able to easily integrate feature content from the site.

Inappropriate?On top of features listed above, it would be nice if messages sent out on the broadcast message system can be sent to the member's inbox on the network, rather than just everyone's email addresses. the main problem i have with broadcast is that members opt out of it, and then never receive the message. maybe people who opt out of it should have it sent to their inbox on the network instead. either way this feature needs to be revised drastically.

I vote for this one. I notice my members also opt-out from the broadcast messages, so they hardly ever receive any notifications wich i find a pitty.
I wish we could EXCLUDE the broadcast messages or newsletters from begin opted-out when members can choose wich emails they WANT or DONT want to receive... -

I just don't undrstand why NING doesn't have this yet?
