Photos sent from cell phone not being added!
I am sending e-mails from my phone, to the email address provided on the upload photos page. I do this all of the time to Facebook, Brightkite, and others. BUT Ning never receives and processes my photos.
I have reported this in the past ... and nothing has ever been done. I'm using AT&T as my carrier, and a Nokia E70 phone ... and as I said, sending them to Facebook and numerous other sites works just fine. It is only Ning that fails to receive my photos.
Why are you not receiving and adding my photos, sent from my cell phone?

Inappropriate?Just to add to the issues ...
1. On the page where it tells about the ability to send from your phone (http://wilsonfamily.ning.com/photo/ph...) when I click the link to "Click here to get a new e-mail address" it does not work, and I get the following Javascript error:
Error: generateNewEmailAddress is not defined
Source File: http://static.hootsuite.com/js-3-7-0/...
Line: 1
2. I then had to go into the Settings page, and there I was able to click the link and "Generate New Email Address" ... which I did ... and which still did not work.
This would really be a good feature ... if it actually worked!
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? As even more info ... I just e-mailed a photo from my mail client ... and it was added ... so the address is correct! But I just sent two more from my phone, and they are on Facebook, but not Ning!
What is going on? Someone please?

my pics want upload from my cell ph,an when trying from pic mail still a problem so I have no face on face book -
Inappropriate?Hi Humancell!
Are you sure you're sending them as emails, and not as MMS or some other format? In either case, you should contact the Help Center. -
Inappropriate?Yes Evan, I'm sending them as e-mails, and can send them to my mail client (Outlook) and they arrive just fine. AND I send to Facebook, and other sites ... and even other sites that I have developed.
When the e-mails from my phone arrive, all of these other services deal with them just fine. I just did another test now ... the e-mail arrives in Outlook ... the photo is a .jpg attachment ... and I open it just fine.
Is there a reason - as a site owner/creator - that I am contacting the Help Center? I mean ... you are an employee that took the time to answer ... so there is different support or something?
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Evan ... I can also forward the e-mail that I get in Outlook, to Ning ... and then it shows up. So the exact same e-mail that I send to Outlook, can then be accepted when resent to Ning.
So it's all there ... working ... and works will many of the other popular sites ... just not Ning!
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate?Yup, because I'm not a member of the support team — our team whose primary job is to help you solve your issues and build your social network. Contact them to solve the issue.
I'm a product manager, but our support team can dig into this in detail and hopefully get your issue solved! -
Inappropriate?Evan,
Thanks for the clarification ... I have contacted support ... and there is no response yet. I hope to hear from them soon!
I’m anxious
-
Inappropriate?I don't think this feature has ever worked to be honest.
-
Yeah, I've had someone complain about this not working in the past. -
Inappropriate?yeah actually i tried it last weekend and no cigar.. maybe this is one of those may bugs theyre fixing
-
Inappropriate?Ning got in touch with me ... had me send a photo via e-mail to a test account they have ... and they are going to look into the problem ... no reply yet ...
I’m unsure
-
Inappropriate?Ning never receives and processes photos that we send to our domain name ___ @aiven.org
I’m waiting for your help
-
Inappropriate?Hey Guys... I know this has been buried for awhile.
But if you have a custom domain such as www.sitesuites.com ETC
You have to change your DNS settings and not recieve ANY mail at this exchange. I had to do this on my personal network and reset my DNS mail server with my registrar
Here is a help.ning.com link on how to do it
http://help.ning.com/cgi-bin/ning.cfg... -
Inappropriate? My problem is not related to the custom domains ... I'm using a Ning domain.
The engineering team has committed to look at this and get it fixed. I just sent them more information about - yet another service - that works just fine - TwitPic.
I signed up for TwitPic.com and they gave me a similar e-mail address ... and it's working just fine!
So I now have 5 different services that work fine ... except for Ning.com.
They are parsing the mail incorrectly ...
I’m anxious

I have the same issue.. it's never worked for me.. I also have AT&T.. but when I complained about it not working once, a bunch of users on the network I was a member of at that time said it was working fine for them.. -
Inappropriate?Gotcha! I only know what my issue was with my personal network.
Since I have a registered domain and I had to call the registrar and change the DNS and mail settings to get it to work.....
It only took about 3 months with Ning to figure it out LOL
I was glad to see they had created a help topic about it so maybe others wouldn't have to do the detective work like I did.
Sorry it wasn't your solution!
Psst: AT& T works fine for me to upload pics to my network... Luv the umbilical cord.. I mean iPhone -
Inappropriate? This is almost ridiculous! I've been e-mailing back and forth with the support and engineers of Ning ... and they can't figure out how to do this!
There countless Web 2.0 websites that work perfectly with this! I send photos to them daily! Facebook, Twitpic, Posterous ... but nooooo ... Ning FAILS!
I'm shocked that the developers of Ning are unable to figure out something so simple ... countless other sites work just fine. I have my own (offshore!) programmers writing code that does the same thing ... accepts these standard e-mails with photos and posts them ...
What is going on that the Ning developers are so confused and incapable?
I'll be GLAD to fix your code for you!! Just so that this stupid feature would work for me and my communities!!
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I actually found that this isn't the case for all ning networks... and that the provider I have, Cingular/AT&T doesn't seem to work D:
My friend was able to upload images like crazy to a network via his phone.. and when I tried it on the same network, it didn't work...
Then he tried it on my network, and it didnt work at all.. which I couldn't figure out..
I’m indifferent
-
Inappropriate? When photos are uploaded to the users Ning email address, I receive the photos in my personal email account register to Ning.
Nothing ever posts to the site.
It shouldn't have anything to do with what mobile network you are on. It has nothing to do with mobile period. Its just a posting system via email and judging by how long this problem has existed and the number of others who have posted this same problem, my guess is Ning is well aware this feature is broken and chooses not to fix it.
I’m super frustrated
