I see that people are trying to convert the Toyota Prius into a plug-in hybrid vehicle. This is accomplished by adding additional battery packs and a rig to plug the car into a socket to separately charge those batteries. Some examples can be seen here via the CalCars non-profit and here at the EAA-PHEV group.
I have yet to see any projects that are trying the same undertaking with the Toyota Camry Hybrid... but its technology is identical to that of the Prius. And that technology was licensed to Nissan for the Nissan Altima Hybrid (what I own). So.. is anyone trying this on the Camry or the Altima Hybrid?
I would love to drive to work on battery power alone. So anyone want to start researching this with me? =)
