Cannot Install Finale 2009
I managed to install Finale 2009 successfully on my HP Vista laptop but every time I try to install it on my Windows XP desktop I seem to be up against a brick wall! I insert the DVD in my disk drive press "run", type in H:\setup, click "ok" and I get the message "Please insert Disk". On removing and re-inserting the disk nothing happens after pressing "ok". I've tried this so many times with the same result. Could you please suggest a way round this problem.
Cheers,

Inappropriate? Please check to make sure your CD drive can read DVDs. As the Finale 2009 install disk is DVD only.
One way around this problem would be to copy the contents of the install DVD on your Vista laptop to the computers Hard Disk and share the contents to the XP machine using file sharing.

Inappropriate? Many thanks, Jack, for your kind reply. The current drive for removable disks on my desktop computer is an HP dvd840 which, I gather, can both read and write to DVDs. From "My Computer" I found that it is designated by the letter "H" which I therefore inserted in the dialogue box followed by a colon, a back slash and "setup". I noticed that the Handbook says "If you are installing on Windows XP Professional, make sure you are logged in as the System Administrator and reboot after installation." I've no idea how to do this and, when I went to Windows for help, it strongly advised me not to attempt this , as it would leave my computer at risk of being attacked by trojans etc.
Since I use my computer mainly for writing scores in Noteworthy, I have no knowledge of file sharing. Is there perhaps a simpler way round my problem?
Sorry to be so ignorant!
Cheers,
John. -
Inappropriate?Microsoft support is incorrect, however you are probably running in Administrator anyway. Provided you have up-to-date Anti-Virus, you need not worry.
Instead of using the Run command to start the install go to "My Computer" and double click the DVD Drive Icon It should say something like Finale 2009.
You will get one of two things happen, it will either open the AutoRun folder in which case it will prompt you to install Finale. Otherwise you need to look for the Icon that is called "Setup.exe" and this will start the installer.
If neither of these happen and you get either the "Please insert a CD/DVD" error or a "CRC" error your drive cant read the disc correctly.
