Duplicate notifications
Why would i be getting duplicate notifications? I'm using Digsby, but have used it for beforehand with no dupes. Perhaps Digsby has just been updated, or something has changed with notify.me?
The dupe notifications come through at the same time, for a notify.me vanity search on my @adski twitter username.

Both of of you are victims of the same issue, i.e. clients that create resources and don't clean them up. In Rahsheen's case it's the ping.fm client and in Richard's case its google's Talkgadget. I'm working on a fix for detecting stale resources so that the failed messages to those resources don't get broadcast to the online resources you do have connected. In the meantime, i've reset athena which wipes out the current stale resources

Inappropriate? For each notify.me alert I recieve via IM, I'm actually getting 8 messages. Basically renders the service useless and I have no idea what happened.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Hi Rahsheen,
Sorry that nobody has reponded to this issue. Is the issue still happening for you or has it been resolved?
Also, what is your username?
If this is still happening, please type in
report
in your instant messenger client and paste the response when you report the problem, this will help us track down the issue.
Thanks,

I have the same problem with Digsby. It happens with all the feeds I'm subscribed to. My username is richardaholden. When I type in report, I get the following response: Report Reference Id: e674de6a-2cf6-47a2-b8e5-5a5f82a1ccff.
Here's a picture example of a typical update: http://i39.tinypic.com/akd24n.jpg, in case it's not clear what the problem is. All of these updates arrive at the exact same time.
Thanks,

That's great, thanks for your help. -
Inappropriate?Hello cpr5,
I am guessing you are reporting duplicate notification over IM. If this is the case try typing in reset to the bot, that should clear it up. Let us know how that works out for you. -
Inappropriate?Duplicates i can deal with, but today i got this:
athena: techPortal:
An Introduction to IBM WebSphere sMash for PHP Programmers
http://c.notify.me/976oBQ
techPortal:
An Introduction to IBM WebSphere sMash for PHP Programmers

...
repeated 20 times :(

thanks for posting adam, have you tried issuing the 'reset' command to athena. this should refresh the jabber (xmpp) connection -
i just did. what does reset do exactly? -
Inappropriate?hello adam,
xmpp is the underlying protocol used for your instant messenger. every time you login / logout to it, the server updates your presence information which includes information such as which computer(s) you are logged in at and whether or not you are available. a common issue with xmpp is for that information not to be updated correctly, (ie. the xmpp server thinks your logged in multiple times from the same computer, etc..). A 'reset' tells us to refresh the presence information for your connection. unfortunately this is not an issue that can be automatically detected on our end; therefore, we implemented the 'reset' function.
for additional commands try typing 'help' to see what else athena can do.
cheers,
-hani
I’m happy
