It looks like we're seeing you signed in multiple times at once with the gtalk gadget, which unfortunately can happen with the gadget. When there is a false positive on a connection and we send a message to that connection, it automatically gets broadcast to all actually live connections, resulting in the duplicates. I've reset athena which should take care of the problem

I'm sorry you ar stil having the problem. We've had some trouble with gmail's talkgadget for some users for a while, which generally gets resolved with a reset of athena. Not to bore you too much with technical details but the basic cause for the problem is that we try to only send to client's that are active. I.e. if you have multiple clients connected and one is at home, idle and the other at work active, we strive to send to only the work one. This is where an artifact of the protocol sneaks in, i.e. if a client disconnects but we do not get the update that they did (which can happen with the Talkgagdet as you navigate to and from gmail in your browser), then any messages sent to the client that has gone away is broadcast to all clients.
Just now athena was seeing one gmail and two talkgadget connections for you, so if those two talkgadget were phantom entries you would receive three copies of every message to the gmail connection, which i assume is google's standalone client. I've reset athena again and now only see the gmail connection, hopefully this time the information will stay in sync.
We are experimenting with some additional probing of clients to better detect when we have had information from google's server, but that code is not yet live.
