I've set up an account this afternoon, and I'm not receiving my validation code via SMS. Providor is O2 (UK, country code is UK (+44)
When I enter the phone number in the setup screen, what format should it be in? 07123456789, 7123456789, or +447123456789?

Do you have an email address associated with your mobile number. This is something that O2 will need to provide for you. If you contact O2 inquire about an email to SMS gateway. Post back with the format of the email address if they provide you with one.
