Webhooks? This would be perfect for me if it could take notifications and post to a URL

Inappropriate?Webhooks are on the roadmap.
First we need to get the API finished so people can put notifications into our system programatically. That version of the API will also allow retrieval of notifications, but that being a polling operation it's not what we recommend to get notifications. So shortly after we get the API out we will be extending it with the ability to register URL callbacks for us to post against, i.e. web hooks.
You can follow our plans for the API at the prelim docs (used for brainstorming and implementation guideline):

Note, this is a draft is will change as we complete things.

Inappropriate?Glad it's on the radar. Not to sound too contrarian but I'd think email and RSS as inputs would be more useful then an API since the former would mean I can instantly connect to my existing services rather then trying to get them to support your API or writing my own translation scripts.
Anyway, I'm definitely excited by a web with pipes!

Inappropriate? We support email and RSS right now and will continue to do so, since as you mention the work out of the box.
Email is single cast and relies on smtp latency, while RSS is multicast and relies on us polling. Neither provide control for additional message meta data.
The API is being added as an additional path, which allows more control over timing and also allows targeting notifications for select users/groups rather than the public broadcast methods

Inappropriate?Hmm, I must have missed the email support. I saw it as an output but is it also functional as an input? I guess my biggest need is is the URL post anyway.
Maybe you can get together with switchub.com. They don't support email inputs but they have URL outputs. That's the marriage! ;)
I’m kidding
