Can Final Cut Server production media location be a MatrixStore Vault?
I do have a NAS for editing, but for all assets (and other files) in a production in FCSrv it`s not best suited to use another place and a secure place like a Vault (separated from the archive vault) in MatrixStore?
I`m asking this because my workflow probably differs a little bit. After capturing the material and Ingesting I want that this material be archived and reviewed by proxies only and retrieved from archive to our NAS only what it`s selected. So I could create a production for the material captured and ingested and archive. After a while it can be retrieved (part of it) and transferred to the NAS.
Am I messing everything up? There`s Lot`s of concepts and names... sometimes they didn`t do exactly what the name appears to claim.
Regards

Inappropriate?I believe that I`ve messed the things up. A Production Media Would be a SAN (or in my case a NAS) and from where you edit-in-place (if it`s the case).
Maybe the best workflow would be to capture local, update to final cut server (and would move to the Production Media location) and once in it archive the entire production (send it to the matrixstore). Every one can see the proxy files and can copy to another production and restore individual clips for that new production only.
This is possible with the current integration with FCSrv?
Thanks
I’m stupid

Inappropriate?Hi Lucas. Yes this is possible in the current integration FCSrv. In fact, we allow you to archive/restore entire productions with a single click, which is very useful in this case. I would also agree with your workflow as described.
At ingest you have a choice whether to immediately start putting the ingested assets straight into FCSrv or whether to wait until after you've done some editing (e.g., in FC Studio) before moving it into FCSrv. However, it is a very good habit to get into putting it in asap, and making sure to add as much metadata as possible at that stage. The metadata will live with the data making it infinitely easier to find the data again in the future. MxS will also keep the metadata with the data, meaning that if you ever lose/move on from FCSrv you still can get back that metadata, or search on it using another tool such as the DropSpot application we provide (free).
