I have some some raw film data along with project files that need to be kept forever and some proxy files that can be thrown away after a couple of months. Can both types of data use the same MatrixStore cluster?

Inappropriate? It should always be the case that a storage device can be used to store different types of data, each with their own set of policies.
It should also always be the case that a storage device can be used by multiple applications and each application should be able to securely keep logically separated data on that device.
MatrixStore provides just that.
MatrixStore provides multi-tenancy functionality. MatrixStore provides each application or data with a set of policies with a virtual space or Vault which can be setup in seconds. It is possible to set default policies on each vault according to the storage requirements or the classification of data being stored by the application:
MediaVault
- Protect from deletion forever
- Keep local and remote copies
ProxyVault
- Protect from deletion for 1 month
- Keep local copy only
