Coins too hard to get...
I am unable play OMGPOP for hours at a time like most people, and it is really difficult for me to earn coins. The most I have ever had is the starter 14,000, and I am now very far from it. Would it be possible to lessen either the price of items in the shop, or increase the amount of coins you earn through games? I really like OMGPOP and love the new shop, but I can't even buy a kart for more than 10 days without losing all of my coins and taking months to get them back. Thanks.

Hey Seth!
We agree that coins are a bit tough to earn right now on the site, and we're working on adding new ways to earn that involve more than winning games. For example: participating on the forum, just playing a variety of games win or lose, and so on (these are just examples, it may be different, but you get the idea).
The reason we don't make changes immediately is because we have to be careful about the coin economy. So it may take some time, but when we're ready to make the changes, our hope is that you'll be happy with the new ways to earn.
In the meantime, here are the ways you can earn:
1) Coming in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place in a game with 5 or more players.
2) Every day that you login will net you some coins.
3) STAR accounts get 35,000 coins a month.
4) There are surveys you can take in the Store area to earn coins http://store.omgpop.com
5) Or you can outright buy coins, but STAR is the better deal by far.
Again changes are coming, we just need to be careful about any changes we make!

If you look at buying coins, it's really pretty cheap. For a few bucks, the cost of a soda or two you can get a lot of coins. Think about it - going to gamestop will cost you $50. Playing on something like WoW costs you about $15 a month. And we let you buy 35,000 for as little as $5 and you can even mail in the money if you have no other way to pay. It's a pretty fair deal - you could never get as much gameplay from an xbox or DS game for $5

Inappropriate?Ok well, They aren't that hard to get if you win alot of games, When you are playing matches you have to be in a match with at least 5 people, First place gets 140 coins, 2nd gets 70, 3rd gets 40. Also you can buy coins, Or you can buy star(You get 35,000 coins per month with star)

The whole coming in 1st 2nd or 3rd and getting coins itsn't working for me.... i just came in second with 6 people on hkb and all i got was 16xp. -

Inappropriate?No problem! Again, grabbing coins or STAR is definitely a nice option if you are short on time regardless. STAR is less than 11 cents a day when you subscribe for a year, and you could grab yourself a nice amount of coins for less than the cost of a value meal. Just sayin'.

What they should do is to reward people who play well and a lot again too. Maybe not as much as before, but at least something.

I should have been at like 1350 now.....
Does the system work at all and will I get the coins I just missed out on and will miss out, because I wasn't on 1350 last day and so on?? :<
also, how do you guys expect people who play a lot to be able to buy stuff in the games when we don't get coins compared to how much we play? >_<

I struggle too even play my favourate game HK......without my power kit and Item Queue, i dont like playing it....because i prefer the item off games, and even with star, i cant get more then 5000coins every week, and thats just enough to keep my Power Kit and Item queue...

Inappropriate?My last response was a bit misleading, wanted to fix that up. We'll be introducing some different ways to earn coins in the future, but overall, if there's stuff you need from the coin shop that you don't have the coins for, you have lots of other options.
Coming to the site everyday and playing a variety of games will steadily build up your stash. If that doesn't do the trick, we have surveys you can fill out, or you can outright pay a few bucks and snag what you need.
Plus when you snag coins from the store, you're supporting OMGPOP. So feel good about that. =D -

Inappropriate?just my opinion, but it just seems off that the person who just plays three different games and logs off and someone else who plays for three hours everyday pretty much still get the same amount of coins (of course, under the circumstances that they both log on everyday for the same number of days.).
on a different point, i hope omgpop could go a bit more global for who can participate for their surveys. :/

Inappropriate?it works out that for every 72 games you place first you get 10,000 coins, and thats not hard to do, i honestly you think you've made the system worse. Before you changed it you will find people would stay on the site for an entire day, and now because there is a maximum amount of coins you can get in a day people will just log off once they have got that, and that could be no more than just 5 minutes. i think you gotta add more ways, and fast, or change it back to the system we all prefer

lol, this is true.
I used to play much more before and so do a lot of other people I know.
I do realize we play to have fun, but if it's more rewarding, we might do it a lot more too :o it's basicly more fun to collect coins that can be used for something than xp that is useless except for bragrights when it comes to level xD -
Inappropriate?On the other hand, they've made omgpop players neurotic into visiting often for their sweet sweet gold, it's gotta help their advertising standings when they can say millions are furiously logging in on a daily basis :P
Not everything is sunshine and lolly(omg)pops, omgpop has to find some way to pay for all the costs of hosting this site.
People will still logon to play for fun, only some item-grinders will curb their use. The rest will go neurotic and logon daily or pay for gold.
In the end, what's worse, working an hour at a REAL job for $5 and getting 35k gold or grind 252 games (for however long that takes) and hope you place first each time? [insert failed economy joke here, then add a point about playing games if you can't find a way to make money]
It'd be interesting to see the logon statistics for before and after the gold change, though. Regardless of how usership has changed, omgpop has a data point to look at to see how they can better finance THEIR gold (the real kind, which is theoretically supposed to back our dollar currency).

you know, i'm sure a lot of ppl recognize that the new system has prolly helped omgpop with their advertising standings, as you said. it's just that if so many users have a problem with the new one, then shouldn't something be done about it? I personally wish that they could fuse both the new one and the old one together, but that's just an surface idea.

Inappropriate?It's like heaven for people who weren't very good players or didn't play as much. But for people who played a lot, I can see why you are upset. I think coins ( for me ) are easier to get but in terms of spending it, it's quite hard. The prices are simply too expensive. Maybe on special days you can give discounts? Personally, I'm saving up my coins for the future balloono shop =P

Some days I think i earn a lot on the new system, but I don't feel like I deserve it at all. :s
other days I'm just getting annoyed because I can't afford anything and I play a lot.
You might want to think that in average I get enough, well I don't. As I've said before, now i earn 2-4 times less than I did before in average. >_>
I don't want more coins per day, I don't want cheaper prices. I just want to be rewarded the old way too, as I've said before, maybe not more, but something. :<

You can get more than 2000 coins a day. I get 450 coins for logging in, 450 for each game, and 400 for the picture club thing. Thats 2.2k, and it should be rising because I'm logging in consecutive days.

haha, kamikaze, a lot of use got an average of 30k+ during the summer, so we're getting 1/10 we used to get... and now there're more items in the shop :c not to mention the shop itself expanded too.. so, personally, this coin situation is really not balancing out :c

That's impossible. The highest you can get is 474 coins each. You probably skipped a day - that is why it fell.

I don't see my previous comment here, so I'll post it again.
I'm 95% sure I got 900 coins each when I played 3 different games the other day. I remember getting amounts of 600 and 750 coins per game on previous days. I also remember logging in and playing two days ago (when I got the 900 coins each, the day before it went back down below 200).
I'll make sure to watch my coin awards closely and report back here when something goes wrong again, or if everything goes "right" for long enough. -
I think it may be possible you've either haxxed or its rewarding you based on the second coin system (where it'd start at 150, then 300, 450, etc.). Hopefully the latter =P

If I hacked it, I didn't do it on purpose, and I don't know what I could have done to trip something like this into working for me. But here's where it gets weirder:
I haven't been able to even log on in a couple days, but I just played Balloono and Hover Kart Battle and got 900 coins each. Here's a screenshot of after Hover Kart Battle:

yeah, you get up to 900 i think and then it drops and it wont get higher than under 500 coins >_> im very tired of it :< i waste so much coins here and there and i get like nothing to refill.

That is one reason. If nobody buys STAR/coins, the site would be forced to shut down. Hosting services and development team is not cheap

Inappropriate?I haven't had enough coins to buy +2 Item Queue for about 3 days now for HKB/HKR.This is a must to playing competitively and I've now been forced to play these games without this item, lowering my rating unnecessarily... I wasn't using OMGPOP in the days where the old system with coins for 1st-3rd place was in effect, but the old system sounds much better to me than the current one.

I will not use the phone (as I don't pay the bills), I have no paypal, I don't have visa or mastercard whatever, I just have a normal bank account. I can transfer, but the problem is, where I come from, we don't use USD, we use NOK.

Inappropriate?I would like to see more skill based coin rewards, as opposed to just constant coinage. Else there is no point to do well besides achievements. Give a nice amount of coins to people who medal in games, and base that off a nice algorithm taking in skill levels and number of people. Like, for example:
Coins received = A/L * P * N * X
where A = Average level of all people there besides you
L = your Level
P = Number of people
N = your Place
and X is a random value between whatever you think is appropriate.

Inappropriate?I guess it's better just stop worriying about this. They won't change the coin system easily, and for sure they won't make it so that you can earn enough to buy whatever you like. Buying coins is a huge part of their income. That's business, they will have do it so that they don't go out of business (we would hate that too)
Just sit back, play, and wait for the changes, whatever they are, whenever they come. -

Coins are awesome because you can use them to get items in the shops and games.
The fastest way is to buy them with real money in the shop http://shop.omgpop.com but if you don't have any money, here's how you can get coins everyday:
- Log on everyday - the more days you do it in a row, the more you get.
- Play 3 different games everyday. (ex. Balloono, Draw My Thing, Ballracer)
- Go to PictureClub and complete the Mission.
- Make friends on picture club, get them to follow you,
post comments on other pictures, have friends comment on yours.
Spend 10 minutes doing this, and you'll be getting around 2,000 coins a day!

Inappropriate?Getting coins is SO difficult. We practically have to buy coins with our real money just to keep up with everything. And I'm 13, so I can't! Because if I only log on long enough to get my daily bonus and my coins for playing 3 different games, I only make like 2500 coins. Sucks, I know. THEN, when I try to play games with 5 or more people and get 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, one of the following happens: I wind up playing against an omgpop prodigy with like a level of a bajillion (okay I'm exaggerating, but those levels are quite high, 85-100+ are usually really good players), I can't get 5 people to stay in a match long enough for me to win since people LOVE to switch matches every 1-2 games, or I get kicked out of a match for beating the know-it-all host. I understand getting money helps omgpop, but what about those of us who skips algebra homework to play just one more hour on omgpop, those of us who hog the computer most of their free weekend just to try and get 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in a match? I mean really, its not fair to those of us who play more than 3 games a day. You should get like 300 coins for every consecutive hour you play and/or stay logged in. I would love that! Please fix this!

i like the staying logged in thing but that can also be abused easily so they'd have to put something about being active in a game etc. but if you do picture club and log on everyday and such you can easily make about 4k per day. That's what I do.
