How did you get my email address?
Your email starts off apologizing for spamming me and then has a link to unsubscribe that just takes me to oneriot.com and later in the email there is a link to subscribe. That's kind of shady.

Inappropriate?Hey thanks for the message. First of all I want to assure you, no shady business here, I promise! To answer your first question, if you have never heard of OneRiot before today, chances are that you once used Me.dium.com. If so, that is where we got your email address. You can read about our transition from Me.dium to OneRiot here: http://tinyurl.com/8qfhhl
Secondly, I looked into our uninstall link directing you to our homepage, and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience! You were absolutely right, and we're taking care of that issue now! Thanks for bringing it to our attention. As soon as it's corrected I'll post the correct link to uninstall. Shouldn't be more than a day.
Thanks again, we really appreciate you taking the time to write us and for your feedback. Feel free to message me here or at jhodges@oneriot.com for any additional questions.
I’m feelin' fine

It would have been more professional to indicate in the original email that the emails were obtained from Me.dium due to the transition indicated above. I think a different approach should have been taken to protect your brand.
The email has (in my mind) caused both Me.dium and oneRiot
now to be associated with a spam-like service. -
Inappropriate?Mojo-thank you for your feedback. I will definitely pass it on to the rest of the team at OneRiot and let them know your feelings. Our intentions were not to deceive anyone, so apologies for the confusion. We are very excited about OneRiot, and really want that excitement to translate to our users----not a spam like image, so thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts.
I did want to let you know that when Me.dium did make the transition to OneRiot we did send out a mass email to all of our users to fill them in about the switch. If you had a Me.dium account, you should have gotten the email below. We did our best to fill everyone in on the changes going on, so that an email like the one sent out recently, wouldn't be confusing. We understand that emails do get deleted and filtered from time to time, but I just wanted to let you know that we did try to inform the people of the switch. I have attached the original email below so you can get the info on why we moved in the direction we did. :)
Again, thanks for writing, and if you haven any further questions you can always email me!
Thanks,
Jenniferlauren
(Original mass email, sent out in November)
Last July, Me.dium launched Social Search Alpha, a search engine that allowed our users to find the most popular content on the web. You loved it, and you weren’t the only ones—everyone from The New York Times to Business Week thought we were up to something pretty awesome.
As a small company, Me.dium’s number one focus is to create an exceptional product for our users. Two years, two million downloads, and countless messages of your support later, we now know that product is Social Search. So, in effort to make our Social Search the best on the planet, we’ve decided to shift all of our focus towards making this product 100% amazing.
Here’s what that means for you:
+ As of today, Me.dium will become OneRiot. OneRiot will function as a search engine, but will be different than other search engines for one big reason: Our search results will be ranked based on their current popularity within our community. So, when you use OneRiot, you won’t just be finding information, you’ll be finding the pulse of the web.
+ The Me.dium Social Search Sidebar, as you know it, will cease to exist. Yes, this is a little sad, but as we’ve watched you, our most avid users, loving Social Search alpha more and more everyday, we know that this is what you find most valuable. The sidebar will now offer a list of current hot topics, pointing you to the most popular news, videos and products on the web.
+ The Me.dium add-on for IE8 and Firefox will become the Pulsechecker, a way to immediately access the hottest content on the web, and will be joined by some great toolbars for college students and Myspacers (and soon, facebookers!).
These are big changes, and we’re really excited about them—but we’re even more excited to hear what you think. We adore and depend on your support, and we’re depending on it now more than ever – so give OneRiot a test, then let us know what you think. We’ve definitely got a lot of work to do, and your input will help us make OneRiot the best social search engine around.
Thanks for everything—now go Search for the Pulse!

These are just my thoughts...
I had used me.dium when I downloaded flock. I did not use flock but
tried it for a few days. My impression was it was cool and as social networking becomes the norm for most users, browsers like flock could
have a impact. At that point the brand Me.dium was lodged in some neuron in my brain.
I am sure there were good business reasons to change the brand to oneRiot. But this caused folks like me (who had a few neurons remembering Me.dium) got confused. It was have been better to call oneRiot something similar to Me.dium to associate with the neorons in my head.
Off the top of my head names like:
* one.dium
* one.me.dium
* oneRiot by Me.dium
*oneRiot.by.Me.dium
etc... -
Inappropriate?I agree with mojo.
A welcome stream or in this case re-engagement stream would have been more effective and possibly result in less unsubscribes. But, since the "unsubscribe" link (not "uninstall") is purely cosmetic for the time being, there are zero unsubscribes. That's shady. But, I can understand why they would want to keep as many "subscribers" as possible. Without more people using their toolbar, their "pulse" data won't be that great.
I’m trying to unsubscribe.
-
unsubscribe* sorry, my bad. Endure, I'll get you that link as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience. -
No worries. I used my brilliant powers of deduction to find your unsubscribe page: http://www.oneriot.com/unsubscribe
If you guys need help with email marketing strategy or CRM, I might be able to help and I'm in Denver. :P -
Thanks Endure. I was checking with the team to make sure everything was good to go, but you got to it first! :) Thanks again for your patience, and your brainpower too! ;)
I'll pass on your offer as well. :) Thanks again, take care! -
Inappropriate?Even though you got to it first, I wanted to make sure that every one else who stumbles upon GetSat could see the link: http://www.oneriot.com/unsubscribe/ if they want to be removed from our mailing list.
So sorry about the email glitch, and thanks for your patience.

this solves the problem

Inappropriate?Ok-here's an update-
After the link got corrected, we noticed that there were still some glitches going on with unsubscribing. We're doing everything in our power to get this fixed as quickly as possible. If you send me an email with "unsubscribe" in the subject line, I will personally remove you from our mailing list so that you don't have to go through the steps again.
Thanks and again, so sorry for the inconvenience.
