Like Flickr, there's really no reason why you should be asking for usernames and passwords in your app, or in your API.

Inappropriate?We've definitely been considering using OAuth. For us it came down to ease of development to get these apps into a beta stage (as well as our API).
We fully expect to implement a more robust user authentication system, but for now HTTP Basic Auth does the job.1 Comment

Yeah, it does the job, it's just not great from a web service design perspective. Ok, well keep me posted on this!
