Contact.html doesn't render in Gecko based browsers. (More info for:Contact page display problem in Seamonkey 1.1.5)
Problem Summary:
Content of http://www.oreilly.com/contact.html not visible in Gecko based browsers (SeaMonkey, Firefox) on Windows XP Tablet PC Edition.
Problem Description:
After visiting page, no content is visible in Gecko based browsers. Content appears to load to cache and I was able to download it to my hard drive from SeaMonkey, but it wouldn't render in browser.
Problem Solution:
It appears that there is an extra CSS identifier on the BODY tag that is interfering with content display. Changing BODY tag from <body> to <body> <!--id="about"--> allows everything from information@oreilly.co.uk to be seen. NOTE: NO HEADER/NAVIGATION INFORMATION VISIBLE.
By also commenting out COMMON.JS file on line 21, all of the content of the page appears.
<!--script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" src="common.js"></script-->

Inappropriate?Hi, thanks for your post. We'll have a look at what is preventing the contact page from displaying for Gecko.
-
Inappropriate?Similar problem exists on "O'Reilly Policy on Re-Use of Code Examples from Books" located at http://www.oreilly.com/pub/a/oreilly/...

Inappropriate?Hello. We have researched this problem and cannot reproduce it with our Firefox, IE, Safari, Netscape browsers. We try to accommodate many browsers, but cannot maintain all types. In a future release we will try to have Gecko and others working. Please try another browser for the interim. Thanks.

Inappropriate?I do web work myself, so I understand completely.
In the meantime, you should know that I thought it might be the AdBlock Pro extension I have installed conflicting with the common.js javascript library, but that wasn't an issue.
Thanks for your quick replies and have a Merry Christmas. -
Inappropriate?Until this gets solved, I've found the IETab extension very useful for getting to the content.
Please see the extension's home page at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419 for an installer. -
Inappropriate?Thanks for your information, we certainly appreciate it. We'll check it out!
