Hello Peter,
I just tested the registration system and was able to register books. I tried some fake urls and was messaged appropriately. I'm assuming that you logged in? I've submitted a ticket to our programmers to look into this as well.
Thanks for letting us know. --Allen

Inappropriate?Hi Peter,
Which ISBNs did you try registering? Also, which browser and OS are you using? Since we haven't been able to reproduce this behavior yet that information will help us track down the problem.
Thanks!

Inappropriate?Sarah,
I’m using Windows Vista on a Dell Latitude D630 laptop using both IE7 and Firefox (I tried both, hoping is was just a browser problem.). I just purchased...
C# 3.0 cookbook 0-596-51610-X
C# 3.0 Design patterns 0-596-52773-X
C# 3.0 in a nutshell 0-596-52757-8 (purchased last week)
I first tried entering all 3, then just the nutshell book by itself (and this latter by itself several times). I was able to log in and in fact, changed by password since I didn’t get any Amazon-like feedback “Welcome Peter...” immediately after logging in the 1st time. Your “Get Satisfaction” site was a bit of a pain as it didn’t recognize my newly changed login/password from the O’Reilly site.
On a side note, my first reply to you was returned. It's pretty pitiful to send a support email and not accept a direct response.

Inappropriate?Hi Peter,
We were able to confirm that the books you attempted to register were in fact registered with us. If you're not seeing them listed when you login:
https://epoch.oreilly.com/account/def...
then I think it may be a browser display issue. We'll do some testing and try to track that down.
Also, Get Satisfaction is a third-party site where people can post customer service questions for any company. We display recent questions about O'Reilly on our website. It's good feedback to hear that it appeared to be a part of the O'Reilly login system as we don't want to confuse our customers. I'll also pass on your comment about the email notification not allowing responses.
Kind regards,
Sarah -
Inappropriate? Thanks for trying. When I login using that link I'm [again] informed that I've got no books registered. Since it really does say that, I can't imagine that it's a browser issue. Browsers don't make up text to display on the screen. At least not so far.

Inappropriate?Hi Peter,
You're right - if you're receiving that message there must be something else going on. Can you confirm the login name or email address on the account you are logging in with? You're welcome to email me directly at sarahkim at oreilly dot com so you don't have to post it publicly here.
Thanks,
Sarah -
Inappropriate?Friday I registered another book, bringing my total to 18. That was happily displayed by your site when it refreshed the page. Today I went in to check one of my books and my account says I only have one registered.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Hi Peter and Ken,
We've found the bug in our book registration system. We upgraded our backend systems recently and we discovered a logic error that occurred for people who had accounts before the upgrade and then registered a book after the upgrade.
Everything should be working correctly for you both now. Please let me know if you see all the books you expect when you login next.
Thanks for your patience!
Sarah
