Inappropriate?Hi, could you post some more details as to the steps you took? Can you post a screenshot showing the error?
Also, was this in the first or second edition? -
Inappropriate?I have the same question. In the 2nd edition it says that the problem arises from not having data in d6. But even if you enter data after the error message (or before) cell e6 remains blank.

Inappropriate?papa, could you post some more information? If you could put a copy of your spreadsheet up online somewhere, I can take a look at it and/or forward it to the authors.

Inappropriate?I heard back from the authors. It appears that the confusion stems from the fact that the example code was split between two lines, giving rise to the appearance that there is a space between COUNT and IF. But this should be one word, COUNTIF.
If you remove the space, it should work. But just to be sure, the authors have posted an example spreadsheet you can look at here: http://www.ozgrid.com/Excel/dependent...
Cheers,

My apologies Brian, you were absolutely correct. Jeez, I'm an idiot. -
Inappropriate? Not at all, papa; I committed the cardinal sin of letting that code break where it did. I should have indicated that the line break should not have been whitespace.
