Inappropriate?Does the missing manual for File Maker Pro 8 have applicable info to File Maker Pro 7? Or would it be confusing?

Inappropriate?Susan, I'm the editor of FileMaker Pro 8:The Missing Manual.
To answer your question, if you're a FileMaker beginner, I think you would find FileMaker Pro 8:The Missing Manual helpful. The book walks you through all elements of creating a FileMaker database.
The biggest differences come when you get into layout and more advanced features like scripting. There are some things you can do in 8 that you can’t do in 7. For example, FileMaker 7 doesn’t have auto-complete or spell-checking-as-you-type, and you can’t export to Excel or PDF. However, everything you can do in 7, you can also do in 8, so all FileMaker 7 features should be covered.
I think it comes down to a question of how willing you are to put up with reading about things that aren’t in your own version of the software.
