Leopard v. Snow Leopard switching
I bought "Switching to the Mac Leopard Edition" because I was contemplating getting a Mac. Now I have decided to buy a new Mac and the OS is changed to Snow Leopard.
Is there a way that I can mail back my book (that I purchased from Amazon) "Switching to the Mac Leopard Edition" and receive "Switching to the Mac Snow Leopard Edition"?

Inappropriate? There really wouldn't be enough difference between Leopard and Snow Leopard to need to worry about getting a different edition of the book. As the name implies, Snow Leopard is mostly tweaks and changes under the hood which wouldn't affect your experience in switching.

OK. But this worry about significant differences between Leopard v. Snow Leopard was precipitated by the following comment that appeared on a photo site: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/ess... -
Inappropriate? If no differences, why publish a new edition? I have experienced problems updating Ruby and Ruby on Rails. It also appears that installation screens are changed.
I’m concerned

Switching to Mac: The Missing Manual, Snow Leopard is scheduled to come out in January 2010.
Mac OS X, Snow Leopard: The Missing Manual is scheduled to come out next month, October 2009.
From what I've read, it does sound like Snow Leopard is not a drastic change, so the Leopard Missing Manual could still be useful to you, if you're getting your new computer before either of those books comes out.
If anyone has a Leopard edition of one of our books and would like to upgrade to the Snow Leopard edition when it comes out, register your Leopard book at https://epoch.oreilly.com/register/. You can then get notification when a new edition is available, as well as a discount code for a 40% discount off the new edition.
