whatever happened to the lay-flat binding?
I recently bought the book _Real_World_Haskell_ from amazon.com. I expected the usual lay flat binding from O'reilly. Even though it says inside the book that it uses the RepKover binding, the book doesn't lay flat. Is this a manufacturing problem, or did O'reilly not bind it using the above technology?

Inappropriate?That's confusing because this book does indeed have the lay-flat binding. Does the paper spine "float" away from the book? If not, I'll have to investigate further.

Inappropriate?I'm not sure what you mean. The spine does not separate from the cover like I think it should.

Inappropriate?Thanks for including the picture. This is not what I hoped to see. I will look into this as it was supposed to be lay-flat. FYI, there's a bulk limit (width of spine) for lay-flat. On this paper stock it would be 808pp.
I'll get back to you once I know what the story is from the printer.

This book has less than 700 pages. 4 cm (1 5/8") wide. -
Inappropriate?It's actually a total of 720pp if you include the front matter which is paginated in roman numerals, 3pp of ads and 7pp of blanks. When printing, you have to print in even "signatures" of 8 or 16, hence the blanks.
