Inappropriate?Hi, Lee,
First off, did you know O'Reilly runs the Inside Aperture community site?
It's right here: http://digitalmedia.oreilly.com/apert...
As to books: We're on the fence about doing books on Aperture. It's a wonderful tool and workflow platform, of course, but the market--of users who'd need books--has so far, by the research metrics available to us (Nielsen Bookscan, O'Reilly Research, constant conversation with members of the digital imaging community), been tentative.
There've been a handful of books on Aperture, and perhaps one of them has sold well enough for their publisher to break even. That doesn't mean the market isn't changing, though.
So O'Reilly's question would be: What could we offer that's so much better than what is already out there, that would cause Aperture users to want an O'Reilly treatment of the topic over the alternatives?
I'll leave that question open to anyone who'd like to give us their input; we do appreciate hearing from you.
And if you'd like to move this conversation into a larger forum, we can use the space at http://forums.oreilly.com/category/5/...
Cheers, and stay in touch....

Inappropriate?Hello,
I checked Amazon.com.
Right now there is only ONE book on Aperture 2(Apple Pro Training Series).
Another, by FocalPress(Digital Flow) is coming out in September, and one more(by Wiley, Portable Genius) in January 2009. This one is the most affordable, $16, over 300 pages.
3 or 4 more books are for the 1 - 1.5 versions, which are basically dead.
IMHO, The Missing Manual for Aper.2 is essential. By January there will be probably 3-4 books in total.
The Missing Manual being the most popular series will have a good chance to "break even" and more.
The Mac market is growing at a jet speed.
WE NEED YOUR BOOK NOW! ;-)
I have Pogue's iPhoto '08 manual, but probably very soon going to move to Aperture, in order to avoid using Photoshop Elements 6, which is quite heavy and takes almost 3 minutes to load.
Thanks!
