How often does OIB update its RSS feeds?
What is the interval at which my OIB feed updates? Because I often receive notifications in my RSS reader about new messages only after several hours. It checks the feed for unread messages every 30 minutes though.

Inappropriate?Daniel,
The OIB feeds should be updated with your latest messages each time your reader asks for an update.
What feed reader are you using? I'd like to take a look at it and check how OIB interacts with it.

Inappropriate?I use NetNewsWire for Mac, and occasionally I access my synchronized feeds via the Newsgator service.

Inappropriate?Daniel - I misspoke earlier. After looking into it, I've determined that the RSS feeds are updated hourly. Are you finding this to not be the case?
We are discussing what changes we may want to make to possibly have the feeds updated more frequently. I would love to know your thoughts on how often you would like them to be refreshed as well as any other thoughts you may have about the RSS feeds in general.

Inappropriate?I think every hour is often enough! As long as I know, I can adjust. After all, OIB is for reducing the noise in your regular inbox, isn't it? At least for me, it wouldn't make sense to know about new messages instantly. It could actually be couter-productive.
After your suggestion in the other thread to try another browser, I checked out the feed with Firefox. I think the reason for the long delays I experienced is my news reader. Refreshing NetNewsWire doesn't show new messages, even if they arrived many hours before. I will contact the NetNewsWire developers regarding this issue. Thanks for your support!

This is an article by Newsgator about their update intervals: http://tr.im/utfy -
Thanks for sending the article my way! It was really neat to learn how NewsGator categorizes feeds and their reasons for their refresh rate. It also explains my frustration with Craigslist feeds in general!
I've granted you a 2-month premium subscription as a thank you for helping us explore this area of the app. Thanks for asking great questions! -
Wow, thanks =D
