Please don't let OtherInbox steal the window / tab focus!
Each time I open OtherInbox in a window or tab in the background, it steals the focus of the currently active window. It should not do that. No web page should do that.

Inappropriate?Hi, Daniel.
That must be pretty annoying, to not have your browser and OIB working the way you would expect!
I would like to see if I can recreate your tab focus problem. What browser are you using, and what tab settings do you have set up? Can you take a screenshot of your settings?
How are you opening a new tab with OIB? Are you using a bookmark in a toolbar or from a Bookmarks menu? Are you right-clicking and choosing something like "Open in a new tab" or holding down CONTROL or COMMAND?
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Hi Hoon,
I added a screenshot of my Safari 4.0.2 settings. I translated the text, since I assume you do not speak German.
OIB brings itself to the foreground no matter how I open it. I can type in the address, hit enter and then quickly switch tabs. Or I can open it via CMD-click from the bookmarks toolbar or bookmarks menu. When it comes to the foreground I see the OIB loading screen for the fraction of a second, and then I see the loaded interface. So I guess whatever brings it to the front must happen right before loading is finished.
You always reply very quickly and friendly. Thank you!
I’m thankful

One final question: what is the URL for the bookmark that you are using? -

Inappropriate?I've been having some trouble recreating this problem. I even changed my Mac OS X settings to German to give it a try. I've used various bookmarks that all take you to your OtherInbox (username.otherinbox.com, username.oib.com, my.otherinbox.com, my.otherinbox.com/box).
I've seen the "stealing focus" problem once but was unable to recreate it again. Does this continue to happen to you every single time?
I’m very curious
-
Every single time :( -
Inappropriate?Do you mind checking another browser as well? I would like to determine if there's anything about your particular account that may be causing this or if this is a Safari-specific problem.
-
It happens only in Safari. I tried the newest versions of Firefox, Camino, and Opera. Camino and Opera show a warning about upgrading the browser. In the Safari, I have the following plug-ins installed: Evernote, Inquisitor, Google Gears. If you need more information, please tell me. -
Inappropriate?I installed Inquisitor and get the "stealing focus" problem every time. I'm sorry about the annoyance that must cause!
We'll take a look and see what, if anything, may be causing this weird problem.
I’m glad we found the source
-
Don't worry, it's actually not your fault. But it would be nice if you would find a workaround, because Inquisitor is really popular and useful! -
Inappropriate?Just came in here to say ditto. Doesn't happen in Firefox 3.5 for me, does in Safari 4 and a recent (last week or so) WebKit. I do not have Inquisitor installed, but do have a few others. I also have SIMBL installed with the GreaseKit plugin but that's it. I tried it on my wife's computer and it happens there as well. She doesn't have SIMBL or any of that craziness but does have Google Talk, Adobe Reader and Microsoft Office plugins. Everything else is your out-of-the-box Safari on Leopard. I'm on Leopard too btw.
Pretty annoying issue, it steals focus from tabs or windows.
