Why aren't deleted emails actually deleted?
When I delete an email, I expect it to be deleted. As in gone forever, no sign of it, zip, zero, nothing. Yet when I delete emails with OtherInbox, they simply get moved to a "Deleted" folder where they appear to remain forever.
How do you truly DELETE an email?

Inappropriate?That's a great question, Jim!
At this time, the only way to do this would be to delete an entire mailbox, which I know doesn't provide the granularity necessary for what you're asking about.
We have not implemented a way to "permanently delete" messages as you describe in your question.
Currently, we haven't placed any size restrictions on how much mail a user can have in their OtherInbox. It's something that we're working on, as we get larger and space becomes more of an issue. -
It is a usability issue, not a capacity issue. -
Inappropriate?I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm not sure what "granularity" you're referring to, I just want to delete an email.
So are you telling me that you guys managed to come up with a way to code such a great service, but can't figure out a way to delete an email? Seriously?
Deleting the entire mailbox is fine, since it's in the trash I obviously don't want it anyway. Any new email coming to that account/mailbox is going to re-create the mailbox anyway. Or are you saying that if you delete a mailbox it would delete all emails, even ones in the inbox, sent mail, saved, etc.?
If it's too difficult a tast to physically remove the emails from an account, couldn't you come up with a way to "hide" the emails from view permanently when they're tossed in the trash? -
You don't want to delete the Mailbox.
In the future, messages in the Deleted folder that are older that 30 days will be permanently removed and you'll have the ability to manually "empty the trash" at any time.
It's not hard to do, just not done yet. :-)
One reason why we are still in a closed, private beta is because there are lots of things that aren't done yet. In fact, we've only completed about 20% of the functionality we have planned.
Thanks for your patience as we continue to build it! -
Looks like you are out of private beta now. You're even collecting money from people. But you still don't have this very basic feature. -
Inappropriate?Glad to hear this is coming soon. Was about to ask the same after discovering this missing feature tonight.
I’m happy.

Inappropriate?I am looking forward to it being added to the feature list. What's the prioritization? I hope high.
I’m grumpy that I can't break-up with unwanted spam.
-
Inappropriate? Is it safe to assume that this basic yet critical function will be added before the big launch scheduled during SXSW?
I’m unsure
-
Inappropriate?Hello, maczter.
We are working on this function, but unfortunately I cannot provide a timeframe for when it will be implemented. I am sorry that I cannot provide you with a more exact answer. -
Inappropriate? It is a matter of privacy.
The failure to include it from the beginning, and, even moreso, the faiure to get on it after multiple urgings, is reason to doubt that the company gives adequate importance to privacy.
It is not of the same nature as an interface feature, and should not be treated as one of many tasks in the hopper.
