Why is OIB for Yahoo only working some of the time, not all of the time???
After being away on vacation and not accessing my Yahoo mailbox for several days, I was quite upset to see that my OIB settings are not working. I am seeing that during the last several days, some of the time my messages were orgainzed and other times they were not. And some times it is from the same sender. Something seems to be wrong with OIB and my yahoo box.
My gmail account seems to be fairing better

Inappropriate?I am sorry about the inconsistencies and certainly understand your frustration. We get frustrated, too, when things aren't working the way they should.
You're right that the OIB organizing of your Gmail account is working more consistently.
Making sure the organizing of Yahoo! Mail accounts is very important to us. Rest assured, we are constantly working on improving the efficiency and speed of this process to ensure that all messages are identified and filed quickly and accurately.
Thank you very much for letting me know that things aren't working as expected for you. This feedback is very valuable. I appreciate it!
Please continue to let us know how your experience goes, good or bad.
I’m happy
-
this did NOT help Me at ALL!!!!! -
Mary - Can you provide me with some more details on what you're experiencing? It may be better to go here and start a new topic so that it doesn't get lost in this rather lengthy post. -
Inappropriate?Well, it seems like OIB is back in the not working mode. I have not had any emails organized today.
-
Inappropriate? We are aware that the filing and organizing that Automatic Organizer should be doing is behind this morning. This isn't an excuse (just merely an explanation), but we have had a lot of new signups recently and are working hard to catch everything up.
Thank you for your feedback and letting us know what you're experiencing. It helps us make sure that what we're seeing is indeed what our users see.
I’m confident & thankful
-
Inappropriate?Once again the filing of messages seems to be out of sync. Plus, what seems to be happening is that when it is working, it ignores the older messages that it should be organizing. Out of about 20 messages that should be organized since last night, only 2 today have been picked up.
-
Inappropriate?I just started this and it is not working properly...ready to stop using if its not gonna work!
I’m irritated and disappointed
-
Inappropriate?I am sorry about how slow Automatic Organizer currently is in recognizing messages and moving them out of your Inbox. I understand how frustrating and irritating this can be!
We are aware of these problems and working very hard to speed this process up. This is our highest priority at this time since we want the Automatic Organizer experience to be as seamless as possible.
I’m confident

Inappropriate? It's not that it is going slow, at least for me. The problem is that it isn't doing ANYTHING! It worked for about 10 minutes when I first signed up and hasn't done anything since. To me, that's not slow, that's broken!
I’m increasingly irritated!
-
I'm very sorry Deb and we really appreciate your patience. We have had a lot of new users sign up in the past week and our servers are still a bit behind. Our team is working around the clock to catch things up. We really appreciate you taking the time to give us feedback on this forum. -
Inappropriate?I'll agree. It does seem like something is broken. I'm seeing every so often one or two messages being picked up, but then nothing for a long period of time.
I’m frustrated
-
I'm so sorry Jim. We're working hard to catch things up and we really appreciate your patience. You feedback is very valuable to us so please continue to update us if you don't see things get better tomorrow. -

Inappropriate?Hey, why don't you just remove this thing until it work! Good idea but not if it doesn't work.
I’m definitely frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I am so happy (!) with where this service is going, that I am willing to be patient while they get it up to speed. I think this service has struck a nerve of deep need, and now that we have hope we want it to work 100% immediately. What is critical is Hoon Park's frequent reassurances that progress is being made, together with evidence of same in our inbox.
I’m concerned but hopeful.

Thanks for the kind words George! We're committed to this product and are very encouraged by that nerve that has been struck! -
I agree with George. From what I have seen so far, this program is great. I would like alll my inbox organized, not just 30%. Nevertheless, hope springs eternally... -
Thanks Jack! Can you suggest what other types of messages you'd like for us to organize for you? -
Yes; i agree with G too; the promise of this service is great; quite valuable too... if it gets up and running where the mails in m inbox get sorted every few seconds; at the moment my inbox has only been sorted twice in about a week;
rock on! -
Thank you for letting us know that we're on the right track, EOIN. We definitely want to have Automatic Organizer checking Inboxes more often than we do right now. -
Inappropriate?Joshua and Hoon, I also want to thank you for your work.
Just an update, I have seen a few messages that have been picked up today, but the large backlog of messages is still in my Inbox.
The last indicator of any activity occurring was when I got a note from Automatic Organizer recognizing a new address that I moved into an OIB folder about 9:45 AM ET today. Before that was a digest email around 9 AM today.
I'll keep updating the post as I see things happening (or not).
Keep trying. This really is a great service. I am one that wants it to succeed. -
Inappropriate?Just wanted to give everyone an update first thing this morning. I had a few messages picked up by 7 PM last night, but since then nothing appears to have been organized by OIB. Has anyone else following this thread seen an improvement?
I'm having another issue, so I wanted to see if that issue is also impacting what I am seeing. I'm up to well over 100 messages in my inbox, and the majority of these were being organized by OIB before these problems started to grow this week. -
At the moment, it appears that "older" messages are likely not going to be picked up. I am sorry for the inconvenience this causes. -
Hoon, after your comment, I manually filed all my messages out of my inbox to give a cleaner slate. Unfortunately, I have seen no activity in my inbox since around 1PM ET on 9/18. That is almost a full day with nothing being filed.
I hope that you and your team are getting closer to a resolution on this issue. -
Inappropriate?Another update. I have had 2 pick up of mail today, but only a few of the senders that should have been picked up were.
Here is a really odd one. I had received 2 emails from Ticketmaster at the same time today. One got organized in the first sweep and the second one is still there even after the second sweep. -
Hi Jim,
Is your Inbox looking better today? -
No, it is not. I have not seen any OIB activity in my inbox today. I just manually organized about 40 or 50 messages. -
Okay thanks for the quick reply. From our end it looks like most accounts are caught up but it sounds like we need to keep working. Thanks for your patience! -
No problem. (I just happened to sign on and check my messages when I saw your reply.)
I'm wondering if my problem is more unique, seeing I'm still getting an error message when I try to change my settings in the OIB Automatic Organizer app in Yahoo! mail. (I have that as a different post out here.)
Keep up the good work, and as always if you need more info from me, let me know. -
Inappropriate?Jim...your problem is not unique. I am still having the same problems as well. In the last few days I have been notified about a few messages being moved, even though more were moved, but still it is only a very small percentage. Most of my messages aren't being organized. There really isn't even a pattern to what is being organized or what is being missed.
I’m fed up
-
Thank you for the feedback Deb. The messages that we recognized are listed in the Settings page if you click on the Automatic Organizer. If there are messages that you want us to organize but that we didn't grab by default, just drag them into the folder you want them to go to and we'll "learn" to do that in the future.
If you have a moment, I'd love to hear some examples of the From address of messages that we missed so that we can improve the default filters.
Thanks for your patience! -
Some of the inconsistency may be that our servers were behind on Friday and Saturday but we think we got things caught up over the weekend. I know its frustrating to sign up for something new and not have it work the way you expected right away and I'm really sorry about that. I promise that we're working hard to keep up with demand and we are listening carefully to your feedback so that we can keep improving! -
Inappropriate?I'd like to know if anyone else who is following this question has seen any OIB updates since Friday? As of now, I have had nothing organized since Friday. I know that there were issues Friday and Saturday, but I'm still seeing no activity in my account. Even my manual organizing is not being detected.
-
I have seen some, but just a few - my BB is getting all my yahoo mail. do u know how to turn off oib and just go back to yahoo mail? -
-
Inappropriate?I am also experiencing no automatic organizational progress at this time. I do hope that they post an update and let everyone know an estimate of when they expect things to be fixed and running smoothly again. Even if it is going to be a couple of weeks, it would be good to have a sense of time frames.
Also their contact form:
http://www.otherinbox.com/contact.html
Does not seem to be working. I tried it in Internet Explorer 8 and FireFox 3.5 for Windows Vista. Luckily they have this way to get feedback from their customers.
I’m undecided
-
We are working as hard as we can to get things running faster. I am sorry that I don't have a specific timeframe, but I can say that this is our highest priority right now.
David - do you have any OIB folders at this time? Have any messages been moved out of your Inbox? If no, what do you see when you open the Automatic Organizer app?
And thank you for letting us know about the contact form on the website. We will need to get that taken care of. -
Inappropriate?I just received an email telling me I have 1 new message. I clicked on the link and it was a sentence in either Japanese or Chinese characters. What's up with that??
-
Can you forward the email you received to me so that I can take a look? My email address is help [at] otherinbox.com -
Inappropriate? It might help to make good distinctions.
Which of the three versions of yahoo webmail are people using
classic
enhanced
or
NEW enhanced
I’m alive
-
What is the difference between the versions? -
I am fairly certain that Yahoo! Mail applications (like Automatic Organizer) are only available on what you are calling "NEW enhanced". -
Inappropriate?I like what OBI is trying to accomplish. I believe once all of the bugs are worked out it will be great. One thing that I think would help a lot with this problem is if there was a refresh organize/sort button. If you have this option already where is it. I would really like for it to organize my old messages into the folders set up for them. Is this an option? I do have some messages still coming in that have previously been sent to the folders assigned. I believe that you are working on this and I appreciate your work. Do I need to change some settings or something?
-
As for some of the current features available now, please take a look at some Frequently Asked Questions for Automatic Organizer. -
Hoon that DID NOT answer my question. -
Shannon - I apologize for not answering your questions in this post in a clear manner.
There is not a "refresh" button at this time to go back and organize older messages after Automatic Organizer has been taught to look for a new sender. This is a great idea for a feature we may look to add in the future. Feel free to create a new post here as an idea or suggestion so that we can discuss further how that might work. -
Inappropriate?Just want to give an update. It looks like Auto Organizer is now working...for know clients to it. Anything that I have custom added is not being organized.
At least that is what I am seeing as of right now. -
Thank you for the update, Jim. That is strange that the custom things are not being added for you promptly. We will look into that from our end. -
Hoon, I'm wondering if this is also why custom OIB folders I'm setting up are not being recognized by the Organizer as well. (See my other issue for that one.) -
Jim, please see this page for an update on the status of custom OIB folder creation.
Unfortunately, we identified and fixed a bug that stopped organizing messages to custom senders users create last Friday. This should be working now, but any messages between then and now will be "skipped over" by Organizer.
This "skipping" problem is going to continue for the time being if something like this breaks. We are working on a smarter "scan" that will be able to identify messages that may have been skipped. -
Sounds good. I had a boat load of custom recognition rules get set up this morning (as I manually moved messages into the standard OIB folders, and I saw messages go into my custom folder too. Keep up the good work, and I hope you can resolve the "skipping" issue soon. That would ease a lot of frustrations out there.
Keep up the good work -
Inappropriate? After a few weeks of OIB working very well, it seems we are back to it not working at all. Over the last 24 hours, no new messages have been organized. I'm up to about 80 messages in my inbox where the majority of them should have been picked up by OIB. Any updates on how the system is performing now?
-
We are currently having an issue with a segment of our database that is causing some of our Automatic Organizer users to not have their messages organized. I am sorry that is affecting you today. We are working to get this up and running again as soon as possible. -
Inappropriate?hello ... is it automatically forward coming particular socialnetwork or some email to OIB( something ) folder .. i`m not sure ..tell me please

This may be the case. For examples, messages from the Social Network Facebook will be automatically moved in the Yahoo! Mail folder "OIB Social Networking". -
