customisability
Thanks very much for a useful widget. A small suggestion: It would be really nice if it were a bit customisable -- for example if it were possible to customise the text or use custom star graphics.

Inappropriate?Hi Mark
Regarding customizing the star graphics... so far it is not doable. We might add this functionality in the future.
Regarding Customizing the text. If you are a bit techish it should be fairly simple.
If you see, on your widget installation code there is the following line:
var OB_langJS ='http://widgets.outbrain.com/lang_en.js';
All you need to do is to copy that language definition file, change it to your customized wording and store it somewhere accessible from the internet.
Then point the OB_langJS to your new file location.
That's all.

Is this info still correct? My index.php file says
var OB_langJS = "' . get_option("outbrain_lang") . '";
so I'm not sure where to link to my new file -
Inappropriate?thanks for the customization help.
Another question: how can I get rid of the capitalization in the rating report line (e.g. RATED_3.0_BY_YOU_AND_1_OTHER). I tried changing it in the js file, but it remains capitalized.
see www.mypointless.com to see what I mean.
(now that I am here at getsatisfaction, how can I get those faces below this box on my blog???)
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?OK,
here is the problem
in your language file: http://home.comcast.net/~sla001/ratin...
the strings names are not the same as the keys the script is expecting to find.
take a look at our original language file:
http://widgets.outbrain.com/lang_en.js
for example, you can see that instead of the key "RATED_X_BY_Y_PEOPLE" you have "rated X by Y people".
you should keep the keys (the capitalized strings) the same and just change the values.
I hope that helps. -
Inappropriate?but the reason I changed those keys is because I was getting the capitalized letters. I will change them back to see what happens. I'll report back :)
-
Inappropriate?okay... I changed back the keys... unfortunately, the same problem exists. Any other suggestions? Thanks!
-
Inappropriate?I'm trying to access your language file at:
http://home.comcast.net/~sla001/ratin...
it is not accessible, can you check? -
Inappropriate?for some reason, the file uploaded at 0k... so, the correct one is now there. With that fixed, the only problem that remains is when "YOU AND ONE OTHER" shows up in all caps. All the others are working fine, but I don't see why that one isn't. No big deal...
thanks for the help.
(and is there any way to get the smiley ratings on this page?? :) ) -
