Are Story Maps supposed to pick up RSS feeds?
I put one of your maps on my blog but the only story that shows up is from 6 mos ago. Do RSS fed stories not get linked the map?

Inappropriate?Teri,
Stories in your RSS feed definitely get linked to the map, but in order to put a pin on the map we have to detect a specific place or address in your story to know where to place the pin, so if your story talks about a region like Minnesota, but not a specific address or place in that region your story will not show up on the map.
There's a few ways you can fix this, and they are outlined here: http://outside.in/public/geo_tagging
You can also use your feed editor, by going to http://outside.in/geotoolkit/feed and attaching a place to posts that you want to show up on the map.
More info here: http://outside.in/geotoolkit/faq#q5
I hope that helps, and please feel free to let us know if you have anymore questions!

Inappropriate?Thanks for the information Aditya!
I don't understand though because I geotag all of my stories with a community and or zip code. Some are even about specific businesses but after 6 months still only the Science Museum story has a pin.
BTW--I have also registered a feed and submitted stories directly. For some reason it still does not pick up on the map. If I the pins arent in the map, there is no point having the map on my blog.
I’m undecided

Inappropriate?Teri,
Yup - a storymap with no pins isn't a happy storymap either! I just looked at your feed and unfortunately you have to get more specific than a community or a zip code.
If you log into your feed editor and click on "Add a place to this post", you can attach a specific place to your story and it will then show up on your map. Let us know if that works! -
Inappropriate? Thanks for writing, Teri. Please feel free to email us at contact (at) outside <dot> in for more specific questions to your feed. We're happy to help with this sort of thing, since the StoryMap can be so useful (and awesome for your readers!) as a visual navigation tool of your archives.
Since we have your feed in our system, you don't need to submit individual stories (they will be skipped as being duplicates). As Aditya said, the best way to manage your posts is to use outside.in/geotoolkit. Also, our guide to geotagging is helpful (as linked above). Make sure to mention places by name and, even better, link to an outside.in place page which will assure placement of your stories on place, neighborhood, and city pages.
Hope this helps!</dot>

Inappropriate?Awesome! Glad to hear it. The StoryMap looks good! You can customize the width of your StoryMap at http://outside.in/geotoolkit/tools.
I’m happy
