Initial map display not correct.
For some reason, positions I send to a iPhone 3G defaults to someplace off of Africa when I send a link to the map. The pin is at the right position, but I have to scroll half way around the world to find it. The same link shows up correctly in Safari on a Mac. I am in Japan and here is a location that was causing problems:
http://maps.google.com/?q=36.318378,1... I had the same problem with other locations, so it was not a one-off thing. Can you fix this issue?

Inappropriate?I've had a look at this, and at first glance it appears to be a problem with the Maps application on iPhone.
I'm trying to find a work around, but I would suggest you raise a bug with Apple against the Maps application in the meantime. I am going to do the same. -
Inappropriate?I had same problem on this App. I'm in Japan too.
I also think that this problem is due to the Map Application of iPhone 3G.
Cause other similar Apps had quite the same problem.
But I tried some for solving this problem, and found simply method.
Look at this.
http://maps.google.com/?q=N36.123456,...
Just insert each one letter(N and E) in front of latitude and longitude data,
Map application of iPhone can display right area (with the pin pointing
right place). Of course this link can be used even by a browser on PC correctly.
So. please check this information, and consider it at the next update.
I think "Over Here" is the best of all similar Apps now. If this problem was
able to be solved, I can recommend friends this App at ease. -
Inappropriate?That's brilliant, thanks.
I've got an update currently pending with Apple at the moment. I will include this in an update immediately afterwards. Unfortunately the way the App Store works that means it could take up to two weeks.
Thank you for your help and your patience.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Hatos's workaround seems like a good idea until Apple fixes the problem (I got a reply from Apple, and they say it a known issue). However, by adding N/E, etc. the name for the pin is just the GPS coordinates. The original way also gives the name of the place.
For example, in the case of the White House, you get the zip code with
http://maps.google.com/?q=38.897661,-...
but the wrong initial map display
http://maps.google.com/?q=N38.897661,...
gives you the correct initial map, but just the GPS coordinates in the pin note -
Inappropriate?Ed this is great news! I can't wait until your update that fixes this makes it through Apple's process. I just got 1.2 today and it seems that doesn't have the fix (work around) in it so I'm assuming 1.3 is the one that will have it?
-
Inappropriate?1.2 was being reviewed by Apple when this issue was brought to my attention. I waited a day or so after 1.2 was generally available just incase any of the new features in it caused any problems. As they didn't I uploaded an update to Apple that includes the fix this morning.
I've called that 1.2.1 as it doesn't have any new Over Here features (there are some planned) and is just a bug fix to work around the Maps issue.
Thanks for your continued support!
