map missing; X'ed out map and a fuel gauge?
Over Here has been working great for me, even up to last night. But suddenly this morning (with no other software changes to the phone, not even a recent sync!), the location is presumably found but there is no map data. Instead I see this X'd out map and a "full" fuel gauge. Whaaaa?
I can't check the version number installed on the iPhone a there is no "about" screen, and the store says I have it installed and that there are no updates. I can delete and reinstall but wanted to bring this to your attention.
ALSO... the (i) button is really hard to tap. I usually have to tap at it several times to get it to come up. Weird.

Inappropriate?Thank you very much for raising this.
The image you are seeing is coming from Google, who provides the maps that Over Here uses. Their terms of service allow each user 1000 unique maps a day. So unless you are using Over Here over 1000 times a day you should not see this.
However, I have a feeling I know why you are seeing it - due to the way that Google recognizes unique users. There is a chance that they are unable to accurately differentiate between iPhone users, using network rather than wifi data.
I will try and work with Google to confirm this.
What I hope you will find is that if you try again today this limit will not have been reached.
If you could let me know if you do or do not see this again I would very much appreciate it.
Thank you for your patience,
cheers,
Ed. -
Inappropriate? It started working again the next day. And since I was hitting it first thing that morning when I had the issue, I definitely hadn't hit it 1,000 times already ;-)
thanks for a cool product. FWIW since the Maps app is clearly missing this ability to send a location, I'd love to see Over Here expand such that I can position the pin anywhere on the globe and send that location. Right now you're limited to what you see on the map when it loads.
thanks

Inappropriate?Hi Joseph,
Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad it started working the next day. I'm still leaning towards it being a 24-hour limit issue - it would all depend on which timezone Google start their 24 hours in!
The extra feature you request is something I do intend to add to the application. I'm just finishing off another application first though - watch this space!
cheers,
Ed.
